Amazing helmet bro! colors and visor definitely mesh together to look like your own personalized creation. Might i suggest black washing it? Great Helmet!

Thank you :D
And I did do a slight wash on it but I didn't wanna wash it too much, I paint miniatures and I know how badly a wash can ruin something lol

Nicely done! You really smoothed everything out well (although I think our color scheme is TOO popular xD) How'd you do the weathering?

And what is this blackwashing you all speak of? 0_o

It's essentially the process of lightly applying black (or other dark colors) paint to armor to give the piece a dirty, used looks. It can be smeared or rubbed on using spray paint applied to a cloth. It's also useful to apply to edges and indentations to simulate grime, which helps give more depth and realism to the piece. It tends to help make something go from "prop/replica" to "battle-hardened armor". :)

I like this one better than the one in H3, it's also very smooth.

Btw, the "small" visor is as pictured, I have two of them :p

I did the weathering by drybrushing some edges silver and doing a wash of black.
The way I do my washes is I get a cup and put a good sized blob of black acrylic paint in it then I dillute it. The black wash then gathers in the recesses of the piece and creathes a dirty/shaded effect. Hope that helps :)

P.S. It's popular cuz it's AWESOME!!!! xD LOL

Thanks! I may sand my helmet and redo details now that the cons over, Im thinking of going over it w/ bondo, I can always repaint it... (but thats soooo much money ;_;)
Anyone have close ups of how blackwashing worked on their armor?

Tell ya what, next piece of armor I make, I'll heavily wash in black, that way you can see the effect. Sound good? :)

Whoa man, your helmet is sick!:cool The paint color and weathering look very nice also. I look forward to seeing more from you.:D

Alright people! Who's ready for an update?!
I've been working all day and I finished the whole left arm (still gotta make the CQB pad though). So check it out!

Sorry about the poor quality, I was in a hurry :/
So go on and comment! I always love feedback! :)

So some massive "no comment" plague has hit my thread so hopefully this update will resurrect it. I've been working for a couple weeks now and I've finished pepping the entire upper body! And today I finally finished the extremely complicated and annoying S.O.B. that is the MK VI torso! I also got about halfway done with the codpiece.

I got this far and knew there was no way I could wear it after I finished the back, so I took some pics with me wearing it

So... notice the flaw yet? The upper vent area on the back is sticking out when it should be concave. When I finished the pep I kept thinking "hmm that looks odd...". So while I was uploading my photos to Photobucket, I was checked out Sk8AlmostBay's EOD build and noticed that the vent goes in on his MK VI torso, I immediately smacked my forehead and fixed it. Oh and curious about the actual vents? I didnt feel like pepping them so I'll make them out of foam, it's ALOT easier! LOL

I'm gonna 'glass the torso tommorow, so wish me luck!!! :D

Not bad on the torso but if you would have pep'd those back detail vent things, you would have had to make the top part go inwards, but I would like to see how the foam detail turns out, keep it up

So I apologize for my long absence, I've been checking the 405th daily but I haven't got around to updating this thread due to my lazyness. But I got my chest piece finished and today I started working on my shins... but with a new median... FOAM!

I'm not that short, but my sweatpants made my legs look short. Also, since I'm new to foam armoring I have a question: How in the world do I fill in those pesky gaps between foam panels?! I need like some sort of rubbery foamy gap filler compound... any ideas?

Thanks for viewing! Feel free to comment! :)

Chest looks great dude, however it does seem a tad small compared to the helmet, but it is probably just the pics. Nice foam work too, I can't wait to give it a try. How do you like it compared to pep armor?

Edit: As for filling the gaps, I believe you are supposed to cut the pieces at an angle so the gaps don't appear in the first place. They seem large enough where you could cut a small strip (like a triangular prism) and put it in between the pieces to fix it though.

@DarkRider9: Thank you for the kind words! I've been using pepakura to make props for the past year or so and I have to say I do prefer to use foam.
Pros to foam:
-Cheap ($12 for a pack of 4 huge sheets)
-Flexible (Good for armor that you're gonna move around alot in)
-Fun to build (Ever get tired of cut-fold-paste? Foam is where its at!)
Cons:
-Drawing your own templates is kind of a pain
-Lots of gaps between panels

@J326: Please explain what you're asking.
