[Intro]

Hello guys and gals!

Well what do we have here? Another project and I still did not finished my pilot build... oh...I know were this is going... TO THE UTTER FAILURE GALAXY AND BEYOND! Well it happend once but hey! I have more confidence in myself now! xd ....and experience! Anyway I don´t know but there might be some of you who remember my Fallout 3 Winterised Combat armor build which I never finished and was a EPIC FAIL! Yep, that one. So I´am restarting it BUT I only make the helmet. Cause if I ever gonna make a Fallout 3 cosplay than it will be either the T-45D power armor or NCR Ranger (Elite Riot gear). But let´s leave it at that for now. Anyway, one of the reasons I´am restarting this project is that I want to try out a few things plus this helmet was in a disasterous state and just kept collecting dust on my shelf. Basically what I´am gonna do is make the helmet as accurate as possible without adding anything else like I always do. Well it´s not a pepakura or cardboard helmet... it is actually a real army helmet but I forgot the name of it. xd Anyway I bought it a while back for 15 euros or cca 20 USD which was pretty cheap! Plus it looks very similiar to the ingame one and yes the word slightly is there so yeah... no matter how much I want it, it won´t be 100% game accurate. So anyway I don´t know what else to write so just...

Enjoy the show!

Please post tips or critiques only! And please write the truth!

I mean seriously sometimes telling the truth about what is wrong with something can help and don´t worry I won´t get angry because of it. :)

I will post updates at random but if you wanna see my daily progress you can check or like my Facebook page!

In this very first update I will show you how the helmet looked like for the past 2 - 3 years... Yeah... So before I moved onto anything I had to remove these things from the helmet. *Those are actual cigarets! Ya know, after I removed all the unnecessary things it looked much better. xd For now that would be all about the helmet and there is one last picture of that transmitter thingy that goes on the back. Yep, it looks really bad right now but don´t worry it will be better! Enjoy!

[Update No.2]

It´s update time again! This time I bring you some photos of... well... of some sanding work. xD oh! oh! wait there´s a bit more too like a picture of the newly painted helmet or to be more specific - pictures of the helmet with the "base colour". Yep, not that interresting but I don´t want to put every progress picture into on update. Yes, I´am way ahead with this project then what I´am showing. And just because I work on this that doesn´t mean I´am not making any progress on my other project - Titan pilot! Anyway, now that I cleared that up let´s get back to the combat helmet. Like I said before I´am remaking this helmet and that means getting rid of the paint too. So basically I used sandpaper to do it and I went from a rough one then I continued with a fine one and I finished it with the finest sandpaper I had. So yeah it´s pretty smooth. Now that I had that out of my way it was time to paint it. Thankfully I have every colour I need for this but before that I applied two layers of black matt paint to act as a "base colour" for the helmet. The next thing I did will remain a secret which will be unreveiled in the next update. So, that would be all for today! Enjoy!

[Update No.3]

It´s time to update this thread with some more pictures! This time I bring you all the painting (No detailing.) progress photos. As some of you know the paintjob on the helmet looks pretty "complex" so before that I did some thinking about how should I do it, but in the end I ended up doing it on a whim just trusting my instincts. xd So yeah, since I can´t really explain it, I will let the pictures do the talking. Enjoy!

[Update No.4]

Hey! I´am back with some more progress pictures! xd Well, actually it´s not much, but hey! Better than nothing! :D So, I added som minor details to the helmet using paint which is used for painting little plastic models. I tried to make it to look like the original and I think it came out allright. Of course I bet it will look way better with the other stuff on it.... oh look and I actually found a strap so let´s try it on! Yep, definitely looks better now. That is all for today! Enjoy!

[Update No.5]

It´s update time again! So since the helmet is basically finished I moved onto working on the tactical glasses.First I took it apart. Then I used some sandpaper to take down the paint from it and I coated it with two layers of white paint on after that. The I used some other colors - grey, black, graphite to make it look like like the in-game one. While waiting for that to dry I moved onto the plexi glass. Here I realised that I can´t clean it no matter what and I coudn´t seem to find a replacing visor so I painted it all black which means that I can´t see through it but I don´t mind since I won´t be using it for cosplay anyway. Lasstly I moved onto the strap which I replaced with a new one a black one just like the original. Then I put it back into the tactical glasses and voila! Much, much, much better than the previous one! Well, that would be all for today! Enjoy! :D

This is awesome! With the quality of this you should consider making the entire combat armor, would be awesome :) all you need now is a cool little face cover and you're all set :) good job on this

Thanks but I don´t think it´s a quality one since I only re-painted a army helmet that looked like the combat helmet. xd Plus if I´am going to make a Fallout build it will be definitelly a T-45D, Ranger armor - Elite riot gear version or Caesars legion Centurion! x3 Oh and I coudn´t find a grey balaclava at all so I´am going to use my shemagh. xd

Looking forward to your armor build then :) T-45D and ranger armor are my favourite

[Update No.6]

Don´t worry I did not forget about this thread! xd And to prove that here´s some new progress picture! x3 So I mostly did some more work on the tactical glasses. Well it was more "cosmetic". I used somekind of tape which had foam on one side and well I just used it as somekind of "padding" for the tactical glasses. Of course I did take some pictures of how the helmet looks now. Next I moved onto the strap. First I removed the plastic belt buckle and then I just painted it with some textil paint (black). It had some white spots and it just looked bad. Anyway last but not least I found a suitable cable which I´am going to use to "connect" the helmet with the Com-pack. Well that is all for today! Enjoy!
