Looking good Personally I like the gaps more, they look cool and could possibly be used for ventilation if you cut the gaps out

Also, bonus points to you for using thumbnails instead of full-size images

Nice details! what are you using to for those, I cant tell if its foamcore or what? Also, what do you plan to use for that funky detail on the underside of the visor? I been asking around and people arent responding

Thanks and GREAT looking helmet!

Looks great. Makes me want to work on my helmet... but... I keep doing other things... You're lucky. We still have a month of school left.

I am in fact using (two) layers of illustration board. Found it at Michael's craft store with the posterboard type stuff. It's just like really think paper. Pretty nice, actually.

I plan on tackling the underside of the brim today, so stay tuned to see how I deal with that. (It may even be a surprise to me, heh. )

EDIT: I tried some things with the under-brim today. At first I thought I was going to try the indent/outdent combo seen in this picture. But I don't think I like the look of it, and considering there's just as many references of having them all raised, (as seen here) I'm going to go with that.

Thanks, those refs are helpful! The problem I am dealing with though, is I'm working with a cast helmet, not pep. The casting wasn't the highest detail (statue cast) and I want to get all these details in. I wast thinking trying what you did for the side details, then doing a THIN layer of bondo, plus a little hot glue to hold it on. Sanding out all those indent maybe be what is gonna happen though, lucky lucky me......

Thanks for the help and keep the pics coming! I need to know what works.....

lil' UPDATE 5/18:
Finished making the under-brim detail. Kind of a mix between the template included in FS' helmet file, and this LA reference picture.
(clicky for biggy)
It (hopefully) goes into the helmet tomorrow. It'd be in there now, but the new type of superglue I bought isn't as "instant" as the label suggests.

Sidenote: Getting everything the way I want it is really taking more time than I initially expected... Working two jobs and having several 11-12 hour work days doesn't help either.
