    Paradoxdj's PAX armor W.I.P.

    #1
A few months ago my brother told me that he was going to this years Penny Arcade Expo. I asked him to take me with him. Now I'm going to PAX prime in september.
After I got my ticket and all that stuff ready I decided that i needed a good suit of armor to go along with it.

    This is how it's going.
I have two and a half weeks left before we leave for the 13 hour drive, from Calgary Canada to Seattle in the States.

I'm only gonna post two progress pictures from before today since I already have about half the suit already done. At the moment I have the torso, biceps, forearms and hand plates completely done and the helmet is in the detail stages. The thighs and shins are being fiberglassed and the boots have just been peped.

    old progress pics

I tried the dual visor technique and i'm really happy with how it turned out.

So now we're up to today.

I have plans to put a pair of fans in the helmet so I don't die at the con and there will be a set of lights in the helmet. If I have enough time then I want to set up lights on the rest of the suit as it is in the game.

There's gonna be updates pretty frequently since I have to get the other half of the suit done in the next two and half weeks. Look out for them and tell me what you think.

You have really done an awesome job on the suit so far. Definitely looks like you know what you are doing.

Thank you all for you're kind words.
After three years o learning non stop from everyone here and having one suit already under my belt I feel that I really do know what I'm doing and I'm glad that it's showing in my work.

There will be another update either tonight or tomorrow for the helmet and cod piece, maybe more if I can get some done.

We'll probably be looking to have everyone meet up on Saturday since there's supposed to be a Reach panel at 10:30 at the pegasus theater.

Awesome man I'll see what I can do about meeting you guys.

              A little update here.
A long tie ago I saw one of the members here do something that got my attention. I can't remember who it was, nor can I seem to find they're build but i can tell you what caught my eye. The way that they got the helmet flush with the visor was very smart, by taping over the visor then using bongo to fill the gap between the edge of the helmet and the visor they managed to fix a huge problem that I had with my last suit and would have had with this suit.

This is what I'v done to replicate it. It works fantastically!

i'v done some more sanding to get the whole helmet smooth and it's now drying with the metallic blue covering it. I'v also got the cod piece drying with the black details and will soon be done after some silver scratches and a thin coat of lacquer.

              more updates to come.

                BUMP for new update.

I got the top half of my armor done! The only work that needs to be done on it is lighting and padding for the helmet. Unfortunately I don't think I'll have enough time to get all the lights throughout the suit done for PAX but I may be able to get them done afterwards, we'll see.

                so now onto the pics

I also got the passes delivered to my house so now I can get in!

I also have the cod piece 100% done and strapped, the thighs still need the fiberglass trimmed off them and I'll be doing the fiberglassing and resining on the shins and boots today and tomorrow.

Keep looking for updates and I'll keep on working.

                  BUMP #2 for another update

The lower half is coming along quite nicely. With the cod peice done and the thighs done I'm moving along quite nicely. The shins are just about finished fiberglassing and the boots are ready to be glassed.
                  onto the pics.

There you go, more updates as they come.

                    Bump #3 for last update

The armor is finished and I leave tomorrow. I'm so happy that I got it done and I'm quite happy with how it turned out. It's like 2 am and I'm pretty tired so not much else will be said right now.

                    tell me what you think

                              Wow, it's October already? o.O

Right, on-topic... What did you paint your armour with, and how'd you get that metallic shine even on the blue paint?
