Scrub's Mark VI armor build! WIP

    #1
Inspired by my friend Kris (AKA SchizophrenicMC), AceNat, and LongShot-X; I have decided to start on my own armor. Exluding helping Kris with his ODST hip piece, I have no prior experience making pepakura nor have I ever scored/folded paper. And boy, that helped a lot with folding! ~(Totally dead serious here)~ Anyway, I've started with my helmet first, and I'm glad it came out as successful as it did.

I figured, I'll just pep out all of my pieces first, and then move on to resin'ing and rondo'ing them. As for the paint scheme, I think I'll go for a nice red color. However, I'll be sure to post pictures I edited for paint schemes I've considered, which I believe some of you may like. Please tell me if you think the scaling is right, I'm a bit iffy when it comes the the space between my neck and the back of the helmet. I figured once I've applied the resin, rondo, and foam then it'll fit much better. Better to have the helmet a tad too big, then a tad too small, right?

This picture makes it look as though I don't have a neck lol

I am amazed that my thread got you inspired. I am once again flattered by this. Thankyou!

Yes I totaly agree its better to have the helmet at bit to big than to small. You need that room for the padding and also to deal with the resin/fiberglass shrinkage.

So far your pepping is doing quite well.
Excellent pics of the the Helm.

    Keep it up!

Thanks, fellas. I was initially going to make all of my pieces in HD, using this helmet just as a scaling reference and getting my feet wet with making pep pieces, but I think I'll keep this helmet and make everything else in HD. Here's the paint schemes I came up with, tell me what you think!

Mix match, or combine to make a color that is between the two?

I'm just starting a build also. I'm using Robogenesis pep files (low rez to get scaling right). I'm finding that I'm using a slightly different scale for various pieces (gauntlets, boots, shoulders, etc)

Thanks guys, I'll be sure to work on more pieces after school / weekends and show you my progress along the way. And I'll have to agree that the BumbleBee paint scheme is my favorite too.

Diggin' the EVA-01 scheme (Purple and green, if it was an accident) a lot.

Anyway, aside from a warp on the top, that's a pretty good helmet. Well exceeds the looks of the one I made, at first. In fact, looks better than the pep of my current helmet. (Although, I was making a less-sexy helmet to begin with :P)

Well, keep at it, Soapy Scrub, and I'm glad I inspired you.

Yeah, the warpage is because I accidentally applied a bit more pressure then I should have when scoring the paper. I'll have to go back and put some super glue where the fold split. Aside from that, it came out nicely :P

And the purple and green scheme is suppose to represent the Joker haha
