  • Gears of War 3 Armor

    #1
    Hey guys!
I made this account a while ago and was too busy working on things to update with any projects I did.
I started making a Gears of War 3 armor with a friend of mine for the release and conventions to come in the future. Heres all the work we have so far.

Pepakura front and back, then a fiberglassed piece with rough clay, finished clay front and finished back.

This is the silicone mold I have for the back

And this is the mold for the chest plate

This is what we have so far.
Currently we are waiting for expanding rigid foam to show up, so we can finish the armor casts. Thin plastic layer of polyurethane plastic with rigid foam backfilling.

Let me know what you guys think. Thanks!

          Decided to restart

I decided the molds and plastic casts didnt exactly achieve what I was going for, so I restarted the whole project. I saw a lot of users making armor out of foam mats, so I gave that a shot. Let me know your opinions or if you have any questions.

            More progress

Started with a base layer for the chest plate

Then started bulking it up and hid the glue marks

Then started to add damage to it

not much is done with the back. Im having an extremely difficult time with it, but heres what i have for that

Hope you enjoy. If you have any questions or comments send them my way! Thanks!

Added some burns and more cuts and dents. I think Im done adding wear to the front.

Theres not much to show on the back yet, but heres a side shot.

Here are my boots so far! about 50% done before painting

Back detail so far. still need tweaks

Im sorry for the bad quality, im using my webcam, but my brother just got a nice new camera, so when this is done Ill have some nice HD photos for you guys if the suit is worth it in the end. haha!

Just about finished up with the armor.

Just need to touch up some spots on the boots, add the browns and blues in, then details.

Chest needs more variations in the blues, touch ups, browns and details. But its coming along!

Im so sorry I never answered this. I cant seem to find the exact Pepakura files I used before hand, but I know its an anthony carmine pepakura file. If it helps any, there are a lot of gears files here, you might be able to find all the files you want here. Anything that says GOW3 or COG before it is gears. Good luck!
