  • FIRST BUILD: Noble 6

    #1
    Good Day to you sirs.

Hi!! Im bad at giving intros but here goes... This is my first build after so many months of reading / viewing videos of all the tutorials here in 405th and in youtube. I have just finished pepping the entire armor and finished the Reach AR and the M6D pistol (im going to paint it together with the armor, to save time.) as shown below the pics, im going to start resin my armor later, and maybe will post some pics of the progress later. Big thanks to Satchmo III, because I used some of the pep files that he posted and learned from his progress. And a big thanks to the guys who made the pep files of course. And after I resin the armor I was thinking of using the rondo method on the inside and do Rondo outside the armor for detailing and smoothing, would that be ok for those who are veterans who tried this method? (P.S. Weight is not a problem for me, i think of it as a weight lifting exercise.) And is it stronger than using fiberglass? Just a noob question.

Sorry for the long intro..... Ill just post my progress pics here.
the whole set (sorry for the bad pics.)

I like the way the helmet sits perfectly on the chest piece.

    another angle.

And the Reach Ar, all it needs is some additional details and some paint. (ill paint it together with the armor just to save time.)

What I did on my weapons, After I assembled the weapons piece by piece I glued Popsicle sticks for support and use epoxy on the inside before putting all the pieces together and bondo the outside. Hope this helps if you might be wondering.

sooo those are all the info that I have for this day. Big Thanks to you guys and specially 405th for helping me out for my first build. Comments and suggestions are very much welcome. Over And Out

Im going to go ahead and echo everyone else, Your pepping is da bomb! lol. Anyways, I pretty much always rondo, because it covers the hard to reach areas and covers it fast & im Lazy. With that said though, I would also back the rondo with fiberglass. I'm not sure where the idea came from that rondo alone is stronger than glass, but I have seen others state that. Don't get me wrong rondo is strong, but it will crack if you drop it. I know first hand because I dropped a helmet that was rondo only. At first it looked fine, the next day it had a crack pretty much all the way around it. I stopped the crack by backing the inside with fiberglass. I now slap fiberglass as a second layer to my rondo. Its just my way of doing it (works for me). Well anyways, it looks like you are off to a great start. keep it up!

I second that. Don't use rondo alone. It is heavy once applied and it is not strong enough to take any abuse. Same as Blackula I dropped ODST gauntlet that I rondoed and it cracked.

Wow, That is a whole lot of pep for a opener. Very nice looking work. I'll echo everyone else on the rondo routine Sept, I like the Bondo glass mix in my rondo. I would also say to avoid using the fiberglass mat as a fist time, I tried it last night and have to go back and fill in air holes later on my boots.( what a mess) But that's me. I'm looking forward to seeing what you do with you're build.

Thanks guys for all of the nice comments. Makes me happy. hehe.

By the way this is my progress for this week.

Helmet, shoulder pieces, hand plates, forearms and the helmet attachment. This is the pieces that I have finished dabbing resin on. But this is yesterday's work.

                    And this is today's work.
Finished rondo the helmet and my UNSC Knife.

What I did to my knife is that before i assembled them together i have to put a very a low-viscosity (runny) mixture of Rondo inside each pieces, and then put them back together using my sticky tape as you can see from the pic below.

Sorry I didn't have time to take pictures during this process since I put too much hardener on the mixture.

Ill post more of my progress as soon as I am done with the rest of the pieces.

Everything looks good so far, gotta love the resin process, but I have to say great job. One thing I would suggest is to wear gloves when you rondo that stuff suck when it gets on your bare skin and not to mention it can get really hot

Thanks! Don't worry I have a box of gloves, I just removed my gloves when I took the pic because the gloves was covered with resin and i have to dispose of it. I agree Rondo is so piping hot!!! I think you can cook and egg with that mixture.

                              Thanks guys!!!

Here is my progress for this week...
Finished the shoulder pieces as well as the two forearms.
Don't have pictures of the finished shoulders but I have experimented on the hardening step a little bit where the left piece is fiberglassed and the right one was rondoed. Just for kicks...

But the two forearms, I used Hyokenseisou's idea using black interfacing fabric. And it was very cheap and very easy to work with. So thanks to her idea, I saved a lot of money and time. Here is the pics.

sorry again for the bad quality. I used a crappy cam but it will do.

And my almost finish helmet. all it need is a little patching up and some more sanding.

More to come... Over and out!!!
