    Arby n the Chief Armor

    #1
Despite the misleading title this thread will not specifically be about creating chief and arbiter armor. Instead I'll be helping my buddy construct his scout SIII armor and I will be constructing Elite Ranger armor. We hope to build these out of foam, and hope to meet the fine level of detail set by people like Roxyroo, Nick Nack, and HaloGodess. I've already constructed some SIII armor of my own, some blue recon. We hope to improve that design with Kyle's, and make it even more awesome :P Plans are to start with the forearms for Kyle's armor, and for my armor, to start with the digigrade stilts out of wood then covered in a layer of foam. Hopefully when completed it will look something like this:

Hey, goodluck! I don't think I've seen an Elite costume yet!

And so it begins! Finished Kyle's helmet enough to paint it, then were gonna install the visor using rare earth magnets.

Also I've finished my half of the forearms, hopefully I'll be able to help him make his half soon, he's been rather busy lately.

Unfortunately also he has massive popeye forearms and huge bear paw hands, so were going to have to figure out a way to clamshell it. We'll probably use the same method they do with Clone Trooper shin armor, where part of it breaks open and slides back into place and is held either by magnets or small clasps.

More work! After a week and a half I've finally finished enough to feel comfortable posting. I've begun legitimate work on my Sanghelli armor while I wait for Kyle to do his half of the project. So without further adeu, my base Ranger Chest:

It's still mostly hollow because I need to pad it out, which I'm waiting to do till I get the fans and lights installed in those gaping holes. Foamies really helped here because it meant I could fill in gaps that were too thin to do easily with my regular high impact foam. Next part is the head which will have a cowl-like neck that fits over my head to give the illusion of the Elite neck. Hopefully by then Kyle won't be sick and his forearm will be done so we can work on the bicep...

Work has continued! I have had a ton of stuff going on with school recently, and am working on a wh40k Power Rangers army, hence the slow progress. However, I finally have enough I feel I can post, namely, the head, almost complete structure wise. Sadly I can't find my camera so I had to take these with my phone, but here's the head so far:

I'm gonna put the visor in the slot on front, and I'm debating adding panels to the sides for peripheral vision
