Custom Halo Reach Armor WIP (A Pic Heavy 1st Build: by a 14 year old): PAUSED

    #1
Hey guys! A while ago I started to make this, but it kinda failed, with me accidentally wreaking pieces and loosing pages, but anyway, I've decided to make a custom MK V Halo Reach Armor based off my character from Halo Reach:

I'm going to make this for the 2012 Melbourne Armageddon Expo. It's going to take a while, being my first build, but hopefully, with the help of my family (specifically my dad) so get it done sooner.

This is what I've done so far:
    Fixing Peps: None ATM
    Helmet Base: Pepping
Helmet Attachments: Yet to be Started
Chest Base: Yet to be Started
Chest Attachments: Yet to be Started
    Shoulders: Yet to be Started
Shoulder Attachment: Yet to be Started
    Forearms: Yet to be Started
Forearm Attachment: Yet to be Started
    Handplates: 1/2 Pepped (Update 11)
    Thighs: Yet to be Started
    Shins: Yet to be Started
    Knees: Yet to be Started
    Boots: Yet to be Started

There are also some pieces I am looking for. Here's a list of what I need:
    Missing Pieces

I will probably add new photos every day or two, but for now, here are links to where the photos are.
The most recent pics: Update 9, 9/7/2012
    Update 1
    Update 2: No Photos. Sorry.
    Update 3
    Update 4
    Update 5
Not so Update 6... The Shaven Update: No pics, soz (page 6)
    M6G Update 7
    Update 8
    Update 9
    Update 10
    Update 11 (Handplate 1/2 Done)
    Update 11.5 (Recon Restart)

I will post more photos when I can and when their done a stage.

Just got my head measured so I can start working on the base of the Recon helmet. Turns out my head is 265mm in height, so I added 2 cm to the .PDO making it 285mm, for padding. I'll spend all Wednesday getting all the pieces to fit together on the pages and get my Dad to print them of Thursday. I'll post pics as soon as I can.

Ok, I know I said dad would print it on Thursday... Of last week... Yet he hasn't, giving me all the more time to nag him to print it. Soz for no pics yet. As soon as I start, there will be picks! I promise. Scouts Honour.

i dont know your situation so i wont judge, but why didnt you just print it out? if you had, you probably would have had the helmet pepped by now, just sayin is all!

also, best of luck with the build dude!

I understand what you mean, but here's why I couldn't just print it.
              1. I don't have a printer at home that will print of 250g/m paper.
              2. Dad has a printer at his office that can.
              3. Dads a real estate agent, so he doesn't have a lot of spare time off his hands to print the helmet.
              4. I'm 14, so it probably wouldn't be done by now.

Im not being rude, I'm just answering your question so it's a bit more clear for you and other people.

Patience is the key No need to rush things. Best to just take your time and make it to another Con. That's what I've decided to do :P

Hey guys! After about a week or a small portion of the base helmet sitting on my desk in my study, I finally got back to work doing te helmet! I got quite a by done tonight. I'll hopefully wake up earlyer than usual to get one small part attached and then have some pics for you tomorrow.
I could also use a lot of tips, this being my first build that ive done, completely. If you could, specifically resin detailing and making a visor. Thanks for keeping watch guys!!!

for raised detailing, i cut out the piece from paper, then transfer it to either packaging cardboard or foamies, depending on how raised i want it, for lines, i use a cutting wheel on my dremel and a triangular file. for the visor, i used Blackulas tutorial, just follow this link and you will be golden on it! http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/...etail-Tutorial best of luck to ya!!!

So when you finish building your pepakura helmet.
Make sure you have all your safety supplies!
The first step is apply the outside with a light coat of resin.
Then the inside, doesn't have to be light, because nobody will see.
You can either fiberglass the inside (not outside, ever). Or, Rondo (Resin + Bondo mix)
and then do a bondo coat on the outside only where you to smooth and detail.
I buy my visors, ebay has them. You can search for gold motorcycle visors.

                              The Front:

                              What I first had done:

The top of the helmet so far:

                              From the back:

I will put these pics in the first post as well.
