I just watched his inauguration myself while here at work, lol. Pretty awesome stuff, and quite a historic moment for US society. I too hope he'll be able to steer the US back on track and really help matters.

Just a friendly reminder, I don't think this should be discussed any more in-depth than it is right now (remember, religious and political discussions are kinda frowned upon by the Admin/Mod group). So, no blow-up debates over this, guys n' gals

I just wanted to congratulate the 44th President of the United States, not start a hate thread.

If you support him, please post.
If not, keep your fiery tongues to yourselves.

Oh, I know that wasn't your intention, Viper. I was just stating that for anyone else who posts in this thread to please keep it civil, and not let it get to that point

lol, he had to repeat himself during oath of office. His speech fell on deaf ears to me, I never supported him during the election, I'll pray that he makes the right decsions for his next term, as I have done for President Bush.

Unlike the many I am a person who thinks that President Bush was a great President, I do supprot the Iraqi War, I do not think that Al Gore should've won, I don not think that John Kerry should've won, and I think that President Obama getting elected as historical as it is, I wouldn't vote for him if I was old enough.

Sorry Mods if this is considered flaming, just had to say what I thought. But like I said, I hope he makes the right decsions for this great country. God Bless America.

(Let's stay away from controversial issues/partisan feelings today. The war and other candidates have been discussed to heated, untold lengths in other threads.)

Anyone want to share their general thoughts about the inauguration.

Here's some things I've been thinking about:

Which speakers did you like?
Were you motivated by anything that was said?
What did you find memorable?
What other historic, political events would you like to see happen in your lifetime?
What other inaugurations have you witnessed/watched on tv?

As a few have said already I am also not the biggest Obama fan, but he is our president now and the man deserves respect. I wish the best for him and America for the next 4 years. His speech was very good, very moving and it changed my opinion of him...some.

I saw a couple things that bothered me though. When former President Bush was flying away in the helicopter there was alot of people booing and waving goodbye in mocking manner, some people just have no respect. Then they showed some silly little girl with a hoolahoop (spelling is probably way off) dancing and waving a flag... Damn new age hippies, or Nippies is i like to call them.

all in all this is a historic day and it will be a story for our grandchildren to come.

You may want to reconsider your usage of the term 'nippies'. I think it's already been taken, if you get my meaning.

Do highschools typically watch the inauguration on TV? I don't recall ours letting us watch it for either Clinton or Bush. This is the first time I've been able to catch it live.
