I've been on a star wars frenzy for a few weeks now. My prop count for the franchise is rather low, mostly just 3 sabers I bought from Saber Forge over the last year and a FO helmet. When Anovos announced preorders for their next run of FO armor I jumped at the occassion but then I realized what good is armor when you don't have a gun?
I scoured online for many many hours, Etsy had a good amount of F-11D casts, some a little different than others, but the price was just to high for what I wanted to spend.
So I came across a website where a gentleman had created a 3D printable design of the rifle in 2 styles. You got the standard version used by many FO troopers like Finn, and the Heavy assault type. Because I like to be well armed with a lot of fire power, I chose the heavy type.
I've been printing for 2 weeks now, using my wombot elixis xl at it's highest settings pulling out the stops on making this badass piece of plastic.
I still have a lot left to do but I'm going to keep everyone informed on the progress. the last 2 groups of parts I've been printing have taken 76 hours each, and started this project just before thanksgiving. I have not decided on electronics since it's not my expertise. I've been talking to a co worker who's curious on the process of doing a simple layout with possible audio. Really, I'd just be happy with a couple of LED's so just wait and see.
