I just wanted to take a minute to thank AoBfrost for his work on this file (http://405th.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=7470) While I didn't go the papercraft route, having a 3D model that I could scale and print was immensely helpful in the creation of my gun.

Thanks for the awesome work dude!

This link contains shots of the gun, process pictures of its creation, and some of my working/source files

More pics, thanks for tossing this up in the Elite section guys, really an honor!

Yes, it changes colors!

That is an unbelievable prop. I'm assuming it's yours. Do you have any progress pics?

edit... yes you do.

Yes, it's mine (or, rather, my girlfriend's. I made the gun as a commission for her)

There's a bunch on the Engadget site, but for anyone looking for more, I have a downloadable .zip file with all my schematics, art files, source images, and working photos here: http://www.jk-hosting.com/krix/Portal%20Gun.zip

If you're curious about materials used, you can check my build photos in my cosplay.com gallery. I've listed most of the products used in the descriptions below those pics.

Amazing work. I was looking at your Portal Gun on the cosplay site yesterday. I'm glad you turned up here. I look forward to seeing some of your other stuff. ;)

how did you get the lights blue lights to look so ambient ;) or what specific lights did you use

Haha, I thought I'd ticked someone off for bumping an old thread and they'd deleted my posts. Wasn't expecting a new thread.

I got my LEDs HERE - making sure to get the 120 degree angle LEDs for a wide viewing angle. The barrel has several diffusers to even out the glow, and the center tube is painted with matte clearcoat

Its hard to overstate my satisfaction. Clearly you do what you must because you can. :D I'm glad you made a neat gun for those who are still alive.
Sorry, I couldnt help myself with the song references.
Awesome work, impressive to say the least. I have to make me one of those. Downloading your files now.
Now I want to see the life size companion cube. :)

Absolutely stunning. I actually discovered this on a different site earlier today, and then I come here and find it again. I must congratulate you on making such a great prop.
