So my motherboard on my old clunker finally fried. So I'm looking for a new one for a good price. I think this one can do it. But I want to be sure,

Is this able to play Crysis? and it not, what would I need to make it so?

EDIT: I know that it doesn't have an op drive, and I don't think it comes with an OS either, but I have those anyway.

check the back or the specs on the crysis box or website.. if it looks like it out beats the specs then yes.

i wouldnt say so since i dont see a graphics card and u need a good one to run crysis on high everything

The hardware specs on the processer look ok. but you will need a graphics card. also you will most likely need a bigger than the 300w power supply that comes with it for the graphics card.

Short answer NO

Longer answer If you want to play on low graphics then you could use it,

Reason: To start its a Intel Pentium processor, Its based parts are from 5 years ago. Thats why its so cheap. Even at the intel thing I went to, the guy was like I don't even like that they still sell theses. Also the graphics card is an on board chip, those never are good. And 4gigs of ram is good but its at low speeds which is bad also. And the power supply is very low meaning that you can't expand much until you get a new one.

So it will play crysis, but on low graphics and maybe like a slide show.

There are cheaper i7 and i5 chips coming out then get a gtx280 or up graphics card with at least 4gigs of ram; DDR3 and you'll be good.

hmm, okay, this was suggested to me, so I didn't come up with this. In graphics terms, does this look legit? There are a lot of these for arounf the same price, give or take $10.

I'm guessing a better processor and graphics, and a bigger watt power would do it?

EDIT: I'm not too savvy with this stuff. I'm used to a PC that was manufactured in 1997 with no upgrades at all. lol

Even if you guys could suggest a package that could play Crysis, that would be amazing! But it has to be for a good price. If it's too expensive, then CSS and Starcraft II-able is awesome too.

The 8800 is a great card, you could play on medium with that, but about adding it to that barebone computer, you will need to get another power supply that's bigger, I think at least 500 or 600watt, But It should work.

and about CSS it will play that just fine, not sure about SC2 tho.

If you want cheap, that Intel Duel Cores are getting There, the Core Duo E8600 with two 8800s make a good computer,

right now I have this computer This

and it runs crysis on very high with a bit of gliching, but im working on it.

ok pc build chalenge! heres what ya need.

http://www.newegg.com/Product/ComboDealDetails.aspx?ItemList=Combo.245498 cpu and motherboard

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820211364 ram/memory

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16814150399 video card

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817139009 power supply

and your total will come out to $1,291.44

oh and you can pick up a copy of xp pro with the video card if you want for nada. no hard drive or any other adons like keyboards mice or monitors or cd drives are included in what i just threw together.

and fust because i thought of it now. bundled things arent always the best fro crysis. ya gott use custom built. or an alienware.

I like this build, that will play crysis just fine,

As the ones that you picked out, those are good too as long as you get a good video card with it, but I don't do much with ATI so I don't know which card to get with it.

By the way,

AMD+ATI

Normaly Intel+Nivida but there has been fighting with the two so New Intel+ATI or Nivida again....which is sad nivida make awseome parts but its getting where no one supports them.

well at leist if you buy this setup grim you won't need to upgrade for crysis 2 when it comes out and the value of this system would last for well over 5years. As for ati vs nvidia and amd and whatnot. It all seems the same to me. Nvidia is geared towards people who will spend 500 on one video card as for ati will do the same quality for cheaper and less "pretty looking" but who is really going to be looking inside your computer unless you have a side panel window

A Core 2 Duo and a Geforce 9800 GTX+ will run crysis okay if your budget is low. You don't need to spend loads if you don't need max details and max resolution. if you want a high resolution, ati cards scale slightly better in the budget sector (meaning at low resolutions, nvidia beats ati, but the higher the resolution, the better ati will do. see nvidia vs ati tests before you buy anything).

Also, I can guarantee you won't notice the difference between DDR2 and DDR3, the only difference is the price, really. DDR3 is still really expensive. More RAM will give you more performance/less loading time (on x64 bit, Crysis runs native on x64), so buying more (slower) DRR2 RAM should be better than less (slighly faster) DDR3.

The most important is the CPU, Mobo and PSU (powersupply). A graphic card or RAM is really easy to change and cheaper, but a new processor usually means different RAM and a new mobo. So don't worry about GPU and RAM, get a decent PSU (for future GPUs: 800W+) and a Core 2 Quad and you should be good to go. I don't know if AMD have been able to catch up with Intel on processors, Core 2 Quads are still killer CPUs for a good price and i7 murders everything.

EDIT: I should mention, there's no definitive answer. You'll have to do the research yourself. It comes down to budget and personal preference. But I can recommend 64 bit OS, like Windows Vista x64 oder Windows 7 x64. I've NEVER had compatibility problems, and the extra RAM you can use is well worth it for hardcore games like Crysis, BioShock, etc.

Ohay, thanks a lot for all the help everybody. However, with my current budget, I don't think Crysis is going to happen....poo.

SO! On to CSS and SCII, and I've checked the requirements for both, and I'm 94% sure that thry both can be played on the second 2 I posted.
