Hey Everyone,

I thought it would be a good idea to have a common place for all my 3D models as right now they're kind of scattered across threads across various places.

I've also decided to upload my Iron Man armor as I finish it, I was going to wait til I built it myself but I want to give back to the community. I never would have finished my Master Chief costume in a month without all the resources of this forum.

So here's all the files I currently have and I'll update this thread in the first post as I add new models. Some of the unfolds aren't the greatest so if anyone wants to redo them feel free.

Took a long time and lots of practice. I started modelling with 3D Studio Max before it was Max. Back in the DOS days it was just 3D Studio R4, the version I learned on. So it's just something I've always done as a hobby. Recently I've gotten a lot better and I think it's just been noticing edge flows on models. The real trick isn't the application or how many poly's you can cram in, it's all about keeping good clean edges and having them all flow together nicely.

If you're just starting out I recommend just trying out all the tutorials you can find online, start off with just simple stuff. I started off doing transformers with simple boxy shapes until I learned my way around.

hey DF, not to take away from my friend Starx' modelling skills, but you're torso is incredible,

do you mind if I add it to my list of files in the iron man pepakura files location thread I made, once its complete with the back?

It will give people a really nice Torso to work with for their suits

Thanks Superman, by all means go ahead. I'll hopefully get the back finished within the next couple days, just need to add in some supports and do the unfold.

Now this is the torso I want on my suit!. I have been looking for a great looking pep torso to use, thank you for posting without holding back, it is very much appreciated.

Don't take this the wrong way but the helmet doesn't appeal to me so I will be using DB's, so I just need a neck to go between his helmet and your torso. I might cut my ears off and use those though.

I'm really am looking forward to building this.

Any plans on doing the legs, cod and arms?.

No offense taken, the helmet was the first thing I did when I discovered pepakura and started modeling again. I'm actually thinking if I have time I might use DB's helmet for my costume, but I already have mine built so I'll wait and see how I'm doing for time.

I am planning on modeling the rest of the suit but it'll probably take some time. The next pieces I'm looking to do are the arms. I want to add some of the extra details I haven't seen on the other arm pep files, things like the chamber for the arm rocket launcher and what not.

The neck seal probably wouldn't take very long though so maybe I'll knock that one off next.

That's some damn fine work you've done. Ill be sure to use that Iron Man chest file and possibly more!

Quick question, is 3D Studio Max a free internet download or do you have to buy it? Actually, for that matter, do you know if Maya is? I'm interested in getting into 3D modelling and I'm looking for a good starter program.

3D studio max and maya are by no means beginner software, they cost more than 1 grand each. Try blender or anim8tor, which are both free. Anim8tor is easier to use, but Blender has so much more potential.

Looking at your build I want it even more now, nice looking work.

Can I ask if you have found a neck to use yet?.

DF, as much as I want it now, I would prefer you to finish it the way you have started and not rushed just to please us.

Would love an update though. You can't beat a picture or two to get the juice's flowing.

Awesome, big thanks to SupermanExtreme, I think Timecon is taking a look at it as well.

No updates right now I'm away from home visiting family for the holidays. I've got all next week off as well though and I'll be at home so I'm sure there will be plenty of updates. I'm really glad everyone's liking the files.

That's good to hear. I've got the next 4 days off so I might start putting it together if I get far enough with the body filler on the helmet.
