MrOreo123's Halo Reach Hybrid Wip (PIC HEAVY)
Why am I dubbing this my Frankenstein build? With so many armor perms available now, I figured I'd pick and choose which individual pieces I like most from MkVI, MkIV (Halo Wars), ODST, and whatever Reach will "officially" become since there was some debate over whether it's a retcon'ed MkIV or V (my money's on MkV since it's got that X chest thing going for it like in Halo:CE).
So far, my choices are as follows:
Helmet: Reach (Lone Wolf)
Chest: Reach (I'm hoping the X-chest design will let me reach across my chest, lol)
Shoulders: ODST
Biceps: MkVI
Cod: MkIV (Halo Wars)
Shins: MkIV
Thighs: MkIV (if/when available) or VI (since I already made them)
Hand Plates: probably MkVI, since I already have them
Forearms: MkIV or MkVI
Obviously, I don't care how non-canon this suit will be. I just chose the pieces that interested me most. I've got my fingers crossed that they'll mesh together well, design-wise. :P I photoshopped together some screenshots of the various pep pieces I'll be doing and overlaid them on the concept art MkV that's floating around to give me an idea of what it might look like. Not too shabby imho.

And what's a wip thread without pics? And look, I've already got some Reach foliage in the background!

The foliage looks so real! How easy was the helm to assemble? It's probably the next helm I am going to build for myself.
Looks really good for a start!

wo that helmet looks amazing!
great pep work too
I really like how it turns out
I think this will be the first pep I am going to make after I finished my ODST suit
when are you planning to glass this baby?
good luck with the rest of the project!

Thanks!
It was pretty easy. I design my unfolds around how I like to build things. If I run into problems, I revise my unfolds for the next guy (since it's rarely so problematic that I have to rebuild the whole thing again). The hardest part was probably the cheek vents since 1) the parts are small and 2) it attaches into AND around a corner rather than to a flat area. Oh yeah, the forehead attachment was a pain in the arse too for similar reasons.

Thanks! I'll probably glass it when I order some more smooth cast. I have a little left, but probably not enough to do a whole helmet, and certainly not enough to do that forehead thing also.

Makes me wanna build this Helmet too, but got no Time cause of many Projects...
Looks great, the Folding is perfect, but is there a little Warp on the 2nd Pic on the Visor next to the Circle?

Good eye. There's a bit a of curve there that I decided to keep flat and not fold. I'll sand it down when I get to the smoothing stage.

Awesome idea Hero,
Keep us updated with pics.

This is looking really good. Your smoothed unfold of the Reach helmet, is very nice to put together. One thing I think though, is that the handplates are much different then the MKVI from what I can see in the reference shots of the world premire. Might be worth looking into making them out of cardboard.

Hero, this is looking fantastic! I'm working on one myself too, but it looks like you beat me to it (I'm using your unfold, which makes it easier to put together in my opinion).
The folds and assembly looks just about flawless. What type of glue do you use to put it together? I like to use super glue.
Also, do you plan on unfolding the 'Reach' chest piece?
Awesome work bud!

Beautiful work as always!
