Yes I did. 1st i put seran wrap onto the visor. So that the tape does not ruin the visors coating. Then I covered the visor with tape.

I agree. You used the expanding foam to fill in the gaps. Awesome. Bondo and Rondo are such stupid pains, y'know? so, here's my question: Maybe I'm not getting it, but how is your visor gonna stick in place in the end?
Love reading up on this post, it's awesome. Especially like the progress pics. they are epic. Good work, Longshot.

Well since that it already sits quite nicly. All I have to to do is trim off any excess visor parts. Then hot glue the visor in place.

Should be a piece of cake!

Applying a light coat of primer helps to find the missed pits and scratches.
It also helps for the Spot putty to stick better.

The Camera caught some "Air Time" as I was blowing the dust off the lens
img00015980.jpg

Soooo... I was staring at these pieces.
--or--
Was it the other way around. Them staring at me?
In either case... I did not like the way they look.
I just had to find some way of fixing that.
What to do?
.
.
.
Ding!
Paint them!
They were already primed. I had the paints on hand.

1st I'll use a "Hammer'd Metalic" on the toe grips
and on those triangle things on the side.
img00016009.jpg

Now I'm letting them dry over night.
img00016010.jpg

Also painted the heal parts the "Oregano Satin" and letting dry over night.

Next: Dinner! Then back at it.

Cheers!

Progress Update

Here are the pics that I missed from the "Foaming the Visor" day.
After the foam had hardened, I simply pulled out the visor.
This is what it looks like from the inside. Perfectly contoured to the visor.

Pic from the outside, after the visor is removed.

Trim it with an exacto knife and you get THIS:
Yes its shot with the crappy camera. :(
im000919_-_cropped.jpg

The 2nd shot is just as crappy. LOL
Still lots of work to do on the Helm.
im000921_-_cropped.jpg

More work to do!

Cheers!

Yea. I just need to hold up a sign with a bunch of numbers on it.
Arresting Officer: "Turn to the left Master Chief! No smiling! Hold up the sign so that we can clearly read it."

LOL!

those boots are awesome! great job

They're not quite done yet... I should have the painting done by the end of the day. With Pics from the Good camera!

I'm currently working on Bondo for both thighs while I wait for the paint to dry. (Geting ready for black washing)

BTW: Love your Helm!

Thanks!

Well Almost finished. Still need to Gel coat them.
img00016638.jpg

I'm not quite satisfied with the heals...
I still want to do more detailing on them.
I want some of the darker area's to be more dark!
Hmmm might try the "Hammered Black" for it.

Ugh! The learning. The testing. The mistakes.
The waiting for the paint to dry!
img00016640.jpg

Continue to Bondo and Sand both Thighs
Most of it is Sanding.
--or--
I could watch the paint dry. LOL
No seriously... Sanding, Sanding, and more Sanding.

15 hour day! I know that I'll be sleeping good tonight!
im000927.jpg

Toilet Plungers will get used... ... ... eventually.
im000925.jpg

Tomorrow will be a minor update as I have to head back to work for an evening shift.
I do need those $$$$'s so I can keep the project alive!

Cheers!

I have to say that hammered black on the toe caps looks phenomenal. Scratch that, this entire project looks phenomenal! Speaking of the toe caps, good idea using craft sticks for those little interior flangey things. Thanks also for the frequent progress posts. Keep it up! Looking forward to more!

nice!
this is an awesome build here, im jealous you get all day to work on this! i get one day a week on mine..
