yeah thats a place I looked at there a little more on the cost but if you cant find locally thats I think your best bet.

Harbor freight or northern tool is the best places around us here in Tex. Here is what he is using. $9.95 for 4 sheets .

So Tim, rough estimate, how much money do you have into your Reach suit in foam?

probably less than 40$, and charlie your chest it looking great, you may need to help ben out all the freights in his area are sold out of them.

thats fine the one by me had 2 pallets of em in stock . Hmm might have just found a way of paying for my projects Blackmarket floor mat dealer ROFL.

(EDIT)By the way I have 6 Paint test prepped. Ill post up my findings once it gets good and hot tomorrow and I can see the qualities of each type of coating in the heat and cool conditions.

Cheers!

I think the most awesome thing about building armor this way is...you don't have to worry about padding :$:):p:rolleyes:D
You can buy a camping mat from Walmart. I think it is more flexible than the foam in this thread, but I think it would work well.

Just noticed this... but for argument sake, Walmart sell these mats as well, you need to look in the section where the weights and exercise equipment is. Found it next to yoga mats in my local walmart. This is the same method I did the ODST gaunlets a year ago.

Great scratch build... can't wait to see it painted.

Pete used this method as well when making the Animatronic Halo Wars Elite armor plates... if you are a cardboard builder, this would come rather Natural to you I should say.

well cardboard is were it all started, I'll check another Walmart but my local one doesn't have the same matts as harbor freight. however they do have some kind of foam matts but I think people are looking for the same ones I used.

Awesome idea.

Definetly great for legs etc. Parts required to be a bit more flexible.
Although I too wonder how well it holds up after some time though...

I found these mat's at Sears also, just so you guys know. I started an ODST forearm and its lookin pretty good but its gonna take some getting use to because you have to rethink how you build a little.

The part where you have to print out the pieces with no edge id, and no fold tabs. Or the part where the foam creates the depth for you?

And great work Timecon this is as interesting to watch as your Ironman build.

well I sorta finished my suit with the help of brandon mcclain on the helmet and me just using mark vi boots and hand plate I was able to make it to the release at 3 different locations last night one of which had over 500 people, I didn't have my camera on me but my sister managed to snap a few shots at home before I left hope you like,

Final weight figures? Range of motion? Hot? Looks really really impressive.

not sure but I can tell you the helmet weighs more than the whole suit, excellent range of motion didn't have any trouble or sourness after the night was over, just slightly warm but not as bad as my other suits. and thanks!

Well done Sir! Did you use pep as a base for all of the pieces? and then just convert them to be "foam" friendly?
