i realize that the concept is on the actual picture you provided but a pocket on the back of a helmet seems kinda wierd. i dunno maybe its just me. heck i know if what i needed was in a latched pocket on the back of my head, id have to set aside a few minutes to get it lol between padding and lack of coordination :/

Our Army guys on the forum can correct me if I'm wrong, but that sort of arrangement would be ideal for an infrared strobe. These are small blinking lights that are invisible to the naked eye. The IR light is readily visible to friendly forces and SAR aircrews with nightvision gear.

Having it strapped to the back of your head keeps your buddy from accidentally shooting you in the back when your stack team goes knocking down doors. Just like the glow-in-the-dark cat's eye tabs you see some guys wear.
I'm always looking for new projects to take on. If there's something you'd like me to make, email me.

      Thanks for the comments everyone!

@ soul products: As thorssoli said, It is in fact for an IR strobe. However, my pocket will actually contain an MP3 player that will be hooked up to the ear pieces for some music.

      Now onto some progress…

I continued to sculpt the helmet today. Not much progress was made, however the new pictures should suffice until I make some real progress.

      That’s it for now.

Love the creativity and concept. Just a few thoughts stemming from my military experience (radio operator attached to marine Force Recon):

Throat mics - Mixed use nowadays. They don't pick up your voice well if you're tired and out of breath.

The latest and greatest technology people seem to be experimenting with is the "bone mic" that picks up vibrations by your ear. However, Halo shows most of their folks using the headset, which is also a nice piece of visual flair.

Those kevlar nape pads for the back of your head are a waste. Knobs and such are also more likely to break. Simple sliding straps are reliable and easy to repair.

Headset seems fine. Modern day Peltor headsets boost low sounds and dampen loud noises such as gunshots so you don't go deaf and can hear everyone around you. Also great for radios.

If you're going for the "high-speed" look, they tend to trend toward lighter equipment and more stripped down gear, and having a million attachments and bulky gear typically leads to the jokingly derogatory term of "gear queer". Low body armor (might consider skipping the bulky neck protector, and it's never fun to run with a groin protector), streamlined layout, take just what you need. Looks like you're on the right track. Can't wait to see where this goes!

    9. I just fell in love. Tacts, would you let somebody model/unfold this for the sake of Pep? That chestplate seems like the perfect blend of ODST and Marine.

    10. Er.

      I have one word.

      WOW.

This is just incredible. Never seen anything like this before.
