The AR looks fantastic so far. I'm impressed with your skills in the hard foam. Out of curiousity what is the foam your using?

Great work on the suit updates Thorn! Glad to see you adding a UA attachment to the helmet; I feel that they aren't done enough. Also, I have to say that's pretty impressive work on carving and sanding the foam AR! Since it's only in it's beginning stages, I can't wait to see it when it's finished. Keep it up.

Thank you Starvinartist It's just Dow Styrofoam "Extruded foam Insulation" You can get it at any major Lumber yard/Hardware store. It's the Pink and/or Blue stuff. The higher the R rating the easier it is to work/tool. It is pricey tho so I got most of mine from work zones as scrap, FREE is always better.

Thanks Spitfire. I thought it needed something and the UA was in the pic so I went with that. As for The foam, it's working out really nice.

Next weekend I'll be back at the desk with the AR.

They say CNC is cheating. Well I'm here to show everyone that you can do the same thing by hand. Of course mine might not be as pretty but hay, It can be done.

Now for anyone else whom wants to try this, When you go to get you're foam. It's just Dow Styrofoam "Extruded foam Insulation" The pink/blue. I't all in how its made and/or the amount of air space. Do NOT get the White stuff it's made differently. The other two things you will need most will be white glue, (Elmer's works great). And some sand paper, I use 80,100,120 grit for this project so far. As for Hardening... well I'll get that later there are allot of ways to do that also. Till the weekend have fun and build something.

Spartans aren't born their built, thru blood, sweat, and tears. And maybe a little Fiberglass.

C-C-C-COMBO BREAKER! No triple posting for you.

The AR looks good man. Yet another build of a quality that I feel will always be beyond my REACH. But I can dream.

      Thanks Jonus, On both accounts

Just one last post for the weekend.

I gave the whole thing a few coats of Poly Acrylic Drilled a few holes and added a few parts. So next weekend I'll do a fine sand job and start adding the detail pieces.

Proof is in the Pic's And here they are.

I have my mini mag ready to go also just waiting for the glue to dry

Quick question, What is the top censor above the barrel? Is that some sort of Laser sight?

And as always, Please feel free to leave any and all input, comments, criticisms, and/or suggestions. Or You're just stopping in to say High. Please do For they are all most welcomed and appreciated. (they also keep me from triple posting.) Thanks for watching my build. and remember..... You're Dreams are always within REACH.

This fix for the floating kneecap is genius. I haven't seen this yet, your idea?

Thanks for the input, I will leave them as is then for now ( hanging off the chest)

Next week I will be very busy with work and will not have time for my project....so next update in two weeks.

Thank you, Yes I needed some way to have the kneecap there but still have free movement.

There is something not shown in the pic tho. I found the two foamie's alone were not enuff support so I added a thick piece of foam mat as a backer. It is aprox. 2inch wide and 12inch long, it supported the knee and padded out the front of the shines making everything much more comfortable. As to why the two foamie's were not enuff well it seems as once the were coated with plastic dip spray they were much harder and a little brittle. The other foam that I used was a cheap yoga mat. it's great for padding out armor.

Happy Building all. Were almost to Resin season, I mean spring here in MI.

I love the little add-ons to the Ar's display. Now all it needs is a usable sight.
