Grave Hawks First ODST Helm (Completed)

    Hello 405th,
This is my first ever build and I wanted to have some progress before I posted. I'm building myself a spartan 3 set of armor with the ODST parts based on my mulitplayer model. So far I have everything peped and a few parts resined.

    UPDATE as of 7-26-2011:
Well I know it's been a while and I've had some stuff get in the way of costuming unfortunately, but that's life. Anyways, I am super excited to show that although the suit did not survive the past 6 months...the helm did and i'm really happy with the way it turned out!! Pics are posted up on page 6. I also apologize for the broken progress pics.
I'm happy to be back and god willing that I can get tickets for Comic Con 2012 I will be there. I will be starting on a new suit within the next 2 months hopefully. Just have a few more things to tie up, like finishing moving lol.

Here are the finished shots of my ODST helm. I know that it doesn't have all the detail that it should but for a first try I'm happy. I learned a whole bunch and so the next one will be much better.

Also more pictures on the last page with the new UA attachment compliments of Hugh.

Just a small update. I sanded down the second layer and just added a third layer of bondo. It's shaping up quite nicely so far. I will take more pics after the next sanding session.

  4. Looks good. I have one question: is that the torso that completly wraps around and connects chest peice and center/ side plates? Just curious.

To answer your question, yes it wraps around and connects the front and back together. I got the pep file from the Reach file thread here on the 405th. It's the model at the very top modeled by Rundown and unfolded by Boba Fett. However, since L3X BLU3R1V3R has made a far more detailed one since I did this one I would check into that model.
This is the link to that one: http://www.4shared.com/account/file/...athiavh99.html
And I'll also post you the link to chest that I have done: http://www.4shared.com/get/252413628...rso_reach.html

Hope that answers your question. And Combust thank you for the nice compliment.

Oh, I didn't realize that you mounted ODST chest onto the Reach torso lol. That's a good idea, I may have to try that

It looks great so far I was actually considering making an ODST helm. I often wonder how people are able to do like resining and bondo in such a cold time of the year...
Hey everyone come check out the Halo Let's Plays and other fun stuff on my youtube channel.

Since I live in desert here in So CAL the coldest it gets during the day in winter is like 60 degrees lol. However the summers here can get up to 120+ so no extreme cold here just extreme heat.
I've been working a lot of overtime the past couple of days and haven't had time to work on anything. Hopefully tommorow after work I will get some more done on the helm. Stay tuned...

Also thanks to 0235 and Chambs007 for encouragement. And to xlasernoobsx about the ODST chest plate. I was planning on either trying to velcro the plate onto the front of the mark 3 chest or if it's to heavy after glassing it I was gonna use 2 very small bolts. If you have any ideas on it let me know. I still have a while before I get to it so I've got time to think about how I'm gonna do it.

Everything looks good. The helmet might be a tad small, but it still looks great.
