Okay, triple-post spaz. I have absolutely NO idea what I'm doing, and the tutorials I can find are of no use. Please, I beseech you, somebody somewhere take time out of your busy schedule to help a Schizophrenic MC in achieving his goals.

I worked on this a few days ago using SketchUp and managed to isolate the head (see below). WARNING: I'm a total rank amateur when it comes to 3d model editing.

There are LOTS of open faces, not counting the open edges, like the ones directly behind the antennas! It's really an incomplete work, although it's one darn good model. For example, in the right earpiece, there was actually a groove there but the modeler never finished it so I decided to wipe the groove off and replace it with a flat face. I removed the lenses, figuring that people would cut them out later anyway. I have more or less cleaned up the inside area so it can be built and worn even in its current (sad and unfinished) state.

I can't guarantee that I'll be able to keep my attention on this project since I have long since moved on past Gundam.

Yeah, I noted that much, too. I tried adding flat faces in Blender, but those crashed pepakura.

I finally got a piece done. The shield. Took an hour to pull off the Gundam, and 2 to unfold. (900mm high roughly equals 1:12 scale) Then, I realized I don't have a license key for pep designer, nor $38 to get one. So, I printed to PDF. This is the file. Try it out. It's 66 pages of me sucking. :D

Hi SchizophrenicMC I'm hoping I can help with this, I know a bit more about working in 3D than my older brother did so I'm hoping I can get this broken down for you in about a day if I can I work with Wings 3D and one of the features is Scale Uniform which if you select the full model and turn the mouse wheel, it will be easier to seperate parts using manual select and deleting parts not needed or exporting parts that you want. I can also reduce the polys a bit so it's easier to unfold but it will lose detail that way. My only concern is any open edges with the model as I said some 3D experience but I'm just now learning it by myself, so I don't know how to fix them. But if I can help in any way lmk.

Deus Ex, One_Guy, a link to the .obj file is in the first post. (Click the nice picture.)

Bounty, if you can give me a Key Code, I can save that as a .PDO. I still have it open, but I'm running on Pep Designer Limited. On the other hand, I could pop a link up for the .3DS file I have the shield saved as, and let someone go for it. I'm admittedly not the best unfolder. I really suck at this whole 3D business :p

I dunno, man. I used Deus Ex's, and I can't put a code in twice. Save it for something good, Bounty.

In other news, I have most of the parts separated in a cursory fashion in one big .Blend file. I've spent so much time in Edit Mode, I keep seeing webs of yellow strands and pink dots everywhere. It's worse than Tetris.

Dude i know hey can you sometime make me really vids of showing basic of blender i got it and every vid is see doesnt help me cause they whole following by what he says then when he diffrent things im like what << fail blender vids( NOW FOR GUNDAM ) hows it going so far tho with everything on it cant wait to see more

Bountyknight, don't give out key's like that. I edited your text! Its probably illigal made with a keygen and we don't accept that here on the forum.
You are warned!

Well, I'm really learning as I go, Bounty. I don't know anything about Blender, except that in Edit Mode, Shift+Left Click adds vertices to the selection. I mean, really, I'm struggling to get this thing split into its major sub-assemblies.

Can you export what you have done so far with Blender into a OBJ file I should be able to use my Wings program and Scale Uniform to seperate everything, I just could'nt get it to open the original file though.

Actually, I've already got it all separated. Now, I just need to save it as a bunch of .3DS files and clean 'em up a bit. Then, I'll shoot those over to you and let you and your brother unfold 'em.

Double Post to update the thread:

I have the parts all separated into 18 different sub-assemblies. (Including the Gun and Shield) Currently, they're just .blends, because I don't have time to compile them into .3DS right now. Got DMV paperwork to fill out for mah road test tomorrow.

I pretty much sucked at splitting this, but it is what it is. I'll put them all up in a big .zip tomorrow, as .3DS files, and let whoever wants to unfold them at it.

EDIT: I have the ZIP. Here you go. If you need anything, or think I sucked, tell me.
