Thread: Clay Carmines Helmet in... CLAY. The begginning of something awesome.

http://www.axner.com/kemper-frss-sma...ng-rubber.aspx. One of them. Used to scrape off the clay and line it all up. . I bought some rubbing alcohol and it didn't work all that well. An Alcohol burner however, I've seen work very well. .

Theres the update, any questions just ask. The proportions are still out by a lot, but i got to head to work real soon, so I'll let you spot them for yourself, just thought you'd all enjoy a couple of progress pics! Getting closer to detailing. .

Sorry they look so messy too, the flash of the camera bought out all the little cracks and scars from the tools. :/.

    Enjoy, Cheers, Dave.

  3. AWESOME, ive been waiting for an update on this :P oh btw xxcaliber i got my clay too so the 405th should expect another clay helmet built sometime soon looking great man, just as a symmetry check i think the top of the dome on the right side of the pic looking from the front seems to be bigger that on the left side, also the rim that goes around the top of the right side's eye seems to curve out and stick out more than the left.
    hope it helps!

Thanks man! . Awesome as! I look forward to some friendly competition, and also seeing how your method turns out, I'm very interested to see how it works. . And thanks for the critiques, just fixed most of that up. .

Haha. I reckon, its a bit like that! . Is it hard to keep the pep rigid while ou'r esloshing the clay around? Or doesn't it flex all that much? .

    Cheers, Dave.

  7. well tbh im terrible at pepping so i dont just glue, i tape too :P but the thing is unlike with resin the paper doesnt soak up the molten clay so it keeps its shape awesomely, ive been looking it over for ages and i cant see any signs of warpage. If you do do this method tho i suggest you only melt about half a pound at a time because once you pour in the molten clay it hardens again really quickly so half a pound is more than enough to swirl around in one go. Ill be starting a thread tomorrow on my build

Sounds very interesting. If I can ever be bothered Pepping again I might give it a go. . This method seems to be working fine at the moment. .
