I am diggin the supports your adding to the armor. I like em a lot. And man that is an ingenious way to do the boots. I was trying to figure out what i was gonna do with mine and i might just have to use this method. I love it :-) all credit to you of course

You're doing exactly what I was gonna do with the foam for my halo boot. I Just didn't figure how I wanted to attack everything to my boots yet. Nice job!

Another quick update. I did a test fit on my boots with the harness installed and everything taped into place, which by the way is working out wonderfully, but there was one snag. When I walked around, the hardened part of the boots were making contact with the floor, creating the dreaded "hoof" sound as I walked. I decided to add another layer of foam to the underside of the boot, but in a special way. A long while back, I was looking at reference photos of the boots, when I started to wonder what the boot treads looked like, so I jumped into Halo 3, died, and took this pic...

So, after making the decision to add another layer of foam to the boot, I went back to this pic and this is what came of it...

It's likely that no one will ever actually see the bottom of my boot, but I just thought this would be kind of fun to do. The tread bits are glued on with the same "Shoe Goo" that was used to attach the soles to the armored bits. I will likely have to hit the bottom with a bit of plastidip to hide the bondo overrun from when I smoothed out the boots, and these parts may eventually need replacement due to wear and tear, but we'll see.

Nicely done! I was thinking about fiberglassing the bottom of my boot pieces and putting foam on the bottom.. I just don't know how well the fiberglassed bottom will hold up to being walked on.

Thanks everyone. I've got one more for you all. After this one, it may be a few days/weeks until my next update. I'm moving starting tomorrow, hopefully nothing gets lost/damaged in the move. It's a short move, only an hour away, so I don't expect anything to get ruined.
Anyway, got more work on the boots done tonight. They're pretty much ready for a primer layer, but I've got to get some primer and money's a little tight until I get paid (new job). So, here they are...

And here is a few pics showing how I keep the armor cover secured. I took a few 1" wide strips of steel, cut an angled groove into them and secured the cover to the boot by hooking the groove onto a bolt.

I know it's not a perfect fit, but it allows a bit of flex and movement when I walk around...

I also took a quick shot of the boot with my shin armor on (sorry about the quality of this shot, not sure what happened)...

The boot looks a tad on the large size, but I also have somewhat large feet. When I look at my Master Chief figure, on the other hand, his boots look a little large too, so I think I'm fine on scale (too late now anyway).
That's it for now. Almost time to start focusing on the thighs.

I think the boots look fantastic. Great way to attach the top armor piece. I might use that lol.
Sizing looks good to me. :-) good luck with the move, may all your stuff be protected.
