    MARK VI, My 3rd Helmet WIP

    So I've had some downtime in the evening from working on my Grif Suit and decided to pep out another helmet. I told myself back when I first started making armor that I would never do it again because it was too much work. 4 months later and I've been pretty much working on something since I finished my Mark V(B). Never realized what an enjoyable hobby this would be.
    The MARK VI, everyone makes one eventually and I figured now is the time. And seeing how the Halo 4 helmet is like 50 pages I don't think I'll be getting around to that till way after Halloween. The weather by me is getting colder and it's hard to work with fiberglass and have it harden. I'll probably end up pepping a bunch of stuff during the next 6 months and harden it in April when it's nice out. I have a feeling the MARK VII is going to take awhile.
    Normally I print, cut, score, fold, and glue everything in a few days when I start a project. This helmet had the most pages out of a single piece so it took a little longer. I started on thursday and will probably finish later today with the pep work. Still don't know what color I'm going to make it. I kinda just want to make it a display item for now, but I do want to make it serve as a canvas for autographs when I go to Comic-Con next year. My thought was to paint the helmet with colored stripes that match the characters from Red vs Blue and have the guys at Rooster Teeth sign the colors they play(Burnie-light blue,brown Gus- maroon, Geoff- orange, etc). I also may leave the visor in and paint it gold so the 343 team can sign that if I see them. But that's just a thought for now... I should get back to gluing and burning my hand...
    Here's what I have so far

    Nice looking pep.
    Noble 6 W.I.P. build ---> http://www.405th.com/showthread.php/...-Spartan-build
    Spartans aren't born, they're built, thru blood, sweat, and tears. And maybe a little Fiberglass.

    Excellent 1st post R8b!

    Your pepping skill are very good.
    Your right about the minor warping. Those areas will get covered in bondo so, there is no need to straighten them out. I would recomend adding in the support struts to help keep the whole thing from warping from the resining process.

    So far, very well done.

    Cheers!

    what longshot-x said about adding support struts would be correct i once tried to build the HD mkVI chest and didnt add the support struts and it got extremely warped so i had to rebuild it and i used the struts and it had little to no warping so it ended out terrific sadly i dont have any pictures :'(

    Nice weather showed its face and I too it as an opportunity to get one last thing done. I'm basically out of time for nice weather because is November in Ohio and it could snow any second. But it's been in the high 50's so I can fiberglass. I will never use bondo again on the inside of my pieces after actually using fiberglass with the cloth. It may take a longer time to do but the results are way better. I'll still use it on the outside to smooth it out, but never again on the inside.
