Unhappy Prop weapons and the police!

Gutted-Called in my local police station today with a picture of my Halo armour and MA37 rifle to check I'd be ok to walk round town with the rifle on Sat (Halloween) but they said they would advise against it even with an added hi viz orange tip. Dont want an armed response team in my face.

Anyone have any experience with this kind of issue?

Unfortunately, this would be the reason. Just check out the restrictions(and more seem to be coming all the time) on airsoft stuff in the UK.

I think the only way to be a bit more safe would be to use Covenant weapons, since those are closer to bright greens and blues and crap they want all civilians to use for recreation.

Honestly, I wouldn't worry about it. Probably bad of me to advise =P..But the way I see it is if your being sensible about it, not pointing it at people, and/or if your in a group of friends it should be alright. A halo assault rifle doesn't exactly look like a real gun either, and it wont shoot anything.
I wore my ODST armour to the Reach midnight Launch. I had a 1/1 scale MP5 that lit up and made sound effects and what not.
My friend and I were standing outside Game and a police van pulled up, and the police woman asked me about it to which I explained that we were promoting the launch of a new game, and that my gun was a toy.
She didn't have a problem with it, and instead offered us a lift if we had problems with anyone on the way home, and got a picture with us =] All without it being halloween.

But like I said, if your sensible and courteous to other people, it should be alright.

Thanks folks, I think the MA37 will stay indoors unless Im with a group of costumers or at an organised event. Er on the side of caution me thinks, I really dont want any bad press over it.

A friend told me that as long as there is no trigger attached and it doesn't have some kind of reloading system, it should be fine-ish.

  7. my brother and cousin once played with cap guns on top of a multi story car park. A little old lady spotted what she thought was 2 men shooting it out(complete with cap gun sound effects) and called the police who promptly sent in an armed response unit. Long story short, they got there tooled up and shouted out "drop your weapons" to them to which my brother and cousin responded by dropping their cap guns and legging it. VERY LUCKY they weren't shot. so yeah. the uk is not a fun place to play with pretend guns.
Ponies are only good for one thing... and thats gluing my pepakura together before i resin it

Neither is Australia. All comes down to time and place, (and not being stupid) with them.

You Brits are obsessed with High-Visibility Jackets and security crap. Freakin' anything will make you guys send out the Anti-Terrorist squad and all that nonsense.
And so I sayeth unto thee, posteth thy images and picatures when thou maketh thine thread, so that we, being of the forums, can say that the events thou hast described hath, in fact, actually and verily happened, so as to dissuade any notion that thine progress is a falsification of words, and so that we might admire thine craftsmanship. Amen.
