      Another ma37 - wood prop

So i decided it was time to try and do a much more detailed wood build now a have some idea of what the hell i'm doing, and here's the progress:

I said to myself at the start, realistic amount of glue, minimal gap filler, so lots of glue and filler later:

Lights to sit behind false semi-transparent display:

      Up to:

I'm working from Juliet76's amazing blueprints, and using 3mm and 6mm MDF. Aiming for working lights, moving bolt and removable clip and I've gone with the listed 800mm length from image comparisons with the MA5C.
      Thanks for looking!

It's 6mm and 3mm MDF (cheap yet effective). However if you intend to use it learn from my mistake and dont cut small shapes into (EDIT: I should say "out of" as cutting holes in panels etc works fine) the 3mm, it wont hold together. Sands well though.

Very nice! Awesome detail in such a small portion of the build. Can't wait to see the rest!

      Thanks!

Not much progress over the weekend (party!) but the beginnings of the centre core 2x 6mm cuts (I've cut a few more layers since here):

I'm not doing this entirely sliced, more so a hybrid of it and alternate parts, best of both worlds. More soon!

Progress has been slow because I'm both busy, lazy and very slow at woodwork, but here's some pictures:

I've cleaned up the lines since then, these are damn hard to get straight!

Cutting and gluing parts of the clip as we speak (or read).
      Cheers!

    7. Looking good! I am curious how you plan on making the working bolt. I have been looking into making one of these and am trying to get ideas how to make an "operational" prop. Can't wait to see the final product!!!!

I really just hope to spring load the bit you pull back, but I havn't worked out exactly how yet outside of "use a spring". Thanks for looking!

Heres some pictures of where I was up to after the weekend:

I'm not working much on the rifle this week as I started working a new costume piece for a two day event this weekend (don't want to wear my armour suit both days, not sure if at all!), but after that I'll get back into the rifle, I've got more parts cut (no photos atm) to add. Thanks for everyone looking and any input into where I've gone wrong or the design is incorrect plus all the encouragement is greatly appreaciated. You can see the helmet here.

Thanks tank, sorry to keep you waiting!

Well, I finished my side project but got caught up in other things during the week (the weather didn't help) but I'm back on this now.
The bolt. This is made simply from a threaded rod filed down so a spring from a pen can fit over (that was painful). The spring doesn't allow for much travel but it works to an extent:

      Side/rear details:

      Attaching the top details/rail:

Lots of sanding now to get all these pieces straight. I'll take a video to show all the details when I'm done.
