Well not much of an update on the helmet, I have company this weekend and little kids and armor building don't mix to well so I rather be safe than sorry but I did manage to make some vents for the cheek parts of the helmet. With Hughs file there are no vent things its just a flat surface and most people who have built his model take foamies and glue them on for the detail, its effective but looks flat so I took some balsa wood and sanded them to the shape of the vents, but because balsa wood bends and breaks to easy, I took the pieces I carved out and made a box mold to make copies of the wood pieces, I then made cast of them out of smooth cast 320, now I have nice little strong pieces to use for the vents, I just need to clean them up a bit and epoxy them to the helmet, Monday I should have updates on the helmet

Here is a pic of the Box mold also the balsa wood pieces that I carved out, notice there are only 3 vent things, one broke apart when I pulled it from the mold, this is why I didn't want to use balsa wood for the details it breaks to easy

Here is a pic of the cast copies, nice hard plastic pieces, I just need to clean them up a little and get the shapes sanded into them

After the gun show Blackula showed us I don't think I can top his post

Well I have an update on the helmet I did do a little bit of work but I did not get as much done as I had plan to, I planned to start the detail parts of the helmet today but when I had the helmet sitting in sunlight today I noticed there were some dimples on the top of the helmet i didn't notice them in artificial light and probably didnt have to fix the problem as it was not noticeable but it would have driven me nuts just knowing its there so I skimmed the top with a thin coat of bondo and fixed that problem, also carved the lines into the front part of the helmet and epoxied the vents that I casted to the helmet also smooth out inside the upper part of the ear areas, I still need to add the side detail, some details on the top brim and the back details then i should be done with this thing, Im going to send it to Blackula to cast it with the paper visor in it, I still need to finish the visor buck so wecan vacu form visors for the helmet so thats it for now hope to have this thing close to finished by tomorrow
