Well I have been a Halo fan since CE, but I didn't get into Costuming until I joined the Mando Mercs last year. I've always wanted to make a Spartan kit since about four-five years ago, and now that I have some prop skills with the mando mercs I figured its my time to start working on one.

Basically the plan for my Spartan is a copy of what I use in Reach, which is a white Recon Spartan with Grey Inlays similar to this pic here:

Here is what I have so far:

My Halo Reach chest piece (in pieces) all I have left to finish pepping here is the bottom left connection.

This is the security shoulder for my right shoulder. My left is going to be a copy of Emile's smaller shoulder.

I started my Recon Helmet several months ago and I have it already fiberglassed and bondoed, in the tedious process of sanding it smooth. Its almost there. I'll post pictures of it when I can.

As for weapons I'm still not entirely sure what I want to do first, I need to determine what field job I want my Spartan to do.

pretty good so far. For the weapons it'll take practice, so whatever field you do, I'd recommend a sliced pistol or something else small so you can get experience before you put to much effort in one like a sniper, or a Laser.

As I've learned from my Mando build, weapons are for a fact my weakest area. I've started to get some Christmas funds rolling in so I've been trying to look into resin/fiberglass weapons here and on the RPF. Though its mostly on the RPF since I can't access the classifieds here on the 405th for quite a while.

I've looked at several weapon files, are there any by a particular modeler that you would recommend?

UPDATE!:

Well I finally finished the chest armor at about 2:30 yesterday morning. It turned out good i guess, the cleanest pep I've had so far and the biggest.

Here's the end result of the pep work:

Sorry about the picture quality, I've been using the camera on my DSI (about .7 mega pixel), my brother misplaced my digital camera so this is what I have to work with for now.

I also managed to get some work on my helmet recon helmet that I started several months ago, about 10-11 months ago. Its been glassed and fiberglassed for a while and I have been trying to smooth it out. Its getting there, still though there is tons of work to be done.

I may cut off that lip in the visor area, the model that I used had it, but I don't see other recon helmets that have it.

C&C please! Let me know what you think!

Thanks guys!

And I don't believe so, its all going to be covered in resin and fiberglass so none of the paper should be touching the paint.

Also a small update, I just finished one of my mark VI gauntlets. I also did both hand plates. I'll try to post pictures tomorrow.

Sorry for the delay in pictures, and sorry for the double post.

This is currently everything that i have finished pepping. I am also working on the other forearm as we speak, and I am about halfway done right now. I may end up redoing that one.
Let me know what you guys think!

Thanks Hobojay!

Well I'm happy to say that the top of that drawer in the pics above are getting slowly swallowed by armor parts (I had to move my mando helmet to make room!). I haven't updated in a while, but trust me I've been working like a madman with a plan! I'm trying to have this and my Ezio done by Phoenix Comicon in the end of may so I want to have everything pepped by the end of this month. I've managed to finish the other forearm, left thigh, and left shin so far as well as everything else already pictured. Though the thigh turned out to be relatively big so I may end up trimming some parts of it off. I have rather meaty thighs so for it to fit curcumferance wise it ended up being rather long. The left shin turned out to be a perfect fit though! I also decided to scrap and redo my security shoulders, considering it was my second pep (it was bad) I figured it was either remake it or spend a few life times trying to get it smooth. I prefered the prior. lol I'll try to get pictures up later tonight.

Here are my new security shoulders that are currently in the works. (much cleaner pep this time)

As always let me know what you guys think!

Hey, I working on my recon armor and can't find a full chest piece for recon armor. Could you send me a link to where you got your files for the full chest piece? Or tell me how? Thanks in advance!!

I'm not actually doing a Recon chest, just a Reach one. Though I think what you have to do is make a mark VI chest piece and add the attachment to that.

Update:
I finished one of the shoulders and started working on the other one. I also started spot putting my helmet and I'm about halfway done with that, I'm going to try to prime it friday and see what I have left to sand down.

Well I promise you just because I haven't posted in a long time, which was just over 2 months ago doesn't mean I haven't been working. I have managed to so far pep every piece except for my right thigh which I will start soon, this week hopefully. However, I have started glassing pieces that I've had!

The chest piece resined:
523165_10150637455167984_695647983_9074912_1849514164_n.jpg

I've tried it on, its a little big but nothing a little padding won't fix. It's a little warped in places after sitting on my shelf for about 3-4 months so I'll try and fix it as much as possible.

My forearms:
530117_10150637455367984_695647983_9074915_1422581798_n.jpg

I had to grind the heck out of the front so I could just barely slip my arm in, my solution to a common problem with the model. (I'd ether recommend doing this or just cutting it in half.)

Glassed hand plate:
562566_10150637456092984_695647983_9074924_13260465_n.jpg

A little warped on it too for some reason, what's the best way to fix that? just a heat gun? How do you guys recommend to mount these to your gloves?

Shin:

tried doing a size comparison but its a little hard to do by yourself, does it look good sizing wise?

Boot:

The toe is glassed, the rest of the boot is just resined. What do you guys do to connect the too? I've seen people use some kind of hose? Also how do you guys attach them to the boot? just rivet a strap on the bottom?

Very good job so far, I was wondering though, I cannot find a Reach handplate file, ANYWHERE I've tried the 'reach files thread' so please nobody redirect me there, would you mind sending it to me Metalfire?

for connecting the two peices of the boots, i would suggest doing what many others do, and buying a CLEAN toilet plunger Read: NEW and then slicing it in half and fitting it between the two so that it fits your boot! also, looks good so far! keep it up! :)

looking pretty good there! i cant tell very well on your shin sizing picture, but it looks like it ends at your ankles? does it, if it does, you might want to make it a hair smaller, i had the same issue myself. shins were too big and it caused alot of problems with the boots and thighs. if yours is too big and you wwant to remake the shin, PM me, i found a more detailed shin than the ones you made, i would share the link, but completely forgot how i found it. i would say the file is easier than the one you are currently using. also im curious as to why you are using reach files for a mk 6? just curious is all, and keep up the work!!
