ODST Full Suit Build with a mix of Hugh's and Kirrou's

I hope to be able to complete a Full ODST suit by the release of Halo 4, not actually for Halo 4 but because i want to do it. As of now i am around 70-80% done with Kirrou's helmet and completely done with Hugh's chest plate. I am going to be adding pictures soon and i am also going to be fiber-glassing and resining soon as well, by following the almighty Ben Streeper's video tut's.

These are the only three i am posting for now but I will add the rest later and maybe when I can figure out how to actually put it on here. :/

Hey, nice job so far! Try putting img brackets around your image links. This way it shows up on the forum instead of a link. Example:

Looking good so far. You probably found the best two sources of ODST files around. Plus Hugh's files are super easy to pep, so by H4 is plausible, depending on how fast you work.

You can link your images from dA, too. Just right click on the picture and select "copy image URL" and paste that into into the image brackets.

Good luck!

ok i dont mean to be a spoil sport but i thing that you may have the folds backwards on the vent ports you may have had your mountain and valley folds mixed up bro. sorry for being a spoil sport but just thought i might give you a heads up

Thank you all for your comments and I will try the brackets, thanks.
Also Scar yes they are backwards. This is actually my second helmet, the first one was my first Pepakura so I didn't expect much, so i made a new one and I didn't like the way the vents looked on the first one so i tried it backwards and I liked it. The only thing though is its Really hard to make it fit :), but nice catch.

Good catch Scar, I didn't see the backwards vents. Those things were a pain for me too. I actually left them off, and attached them as separate pieces.

Also, the fold on the top of the helmet, around the ear piece is wrong. The ear piece and the top should be flush, with a grove that separates them. You should try and fix that now, because that fold will mess up the rest of the helmet.

Thanks, I didn't even notice that, but I am going to fix it now.
Also Thanks BC I got the pictures up, turns out the link in the middle right doesn't work right.

Also here are the other pictures that I didn't post earlier.

This one is my first attempt helmet, sorry for the crappy quality.

This is the Chest plate I think its Low D, but im not sure.
As you can tell I haven't taken many pictures but I will start to.

That is a low def file, but its better to start with a low def and practice, then to struggle with an HD file. No one's first pep looks good, so don't worry about that.

haha well thanks jimmi i see im not the only ODST specialist out here nice to know im not alone XD

Scar, you have no idea. I only just finished my ODST last week, and I got to go to a con this past Saturday. Yesterday I pulled my visor and repainted it because I didn't like how you could see my face. Also, as I type this I'm stenciling "UNSC" onto the chest core. I'm all about detail.

OK,I just got done searching the Fiberglass/resining area, and I couldn't find any specifics on which to do first. Do you resin the outside first to hold the shape, or the inside W/ fiberglass first to strengthen it? I watched the video Ben made and he said Resin the outside first, but I have also seen a few people saying Resin/Fiberglass the inside first. I'm thinking you do the outside first. but im not 100% sure? Any Ideas?

Resin the outside, then you can fiberglass the inside. I suggest using disposable chip brushes to apply the stuff to the outside and inside, because you will never get a brush completely clean.

Thanks, I am most likely going to start the Chest plate this weekend, mainly as a tester before I start on the Helm.
I think helmets are much harder than most pieces, because I have also made two Mark VI MC Boots, one L one R, and it only took around 1-3 days of on and off work but the helmet is going on maybe a month of on and off. I might just be slow :p

Its always a good idea to test first. And don't worry, I worked on my helmet for probably closer to two months on and off. It really is a matter of just taking your time and don't work when you dont want to, or else you may make a mistake trying to rush it.

OK, im not going to do it this Saturday, maybe this Sunday because it is pouring down rain right now and is expected to continue into tomorrows afternoon... Now I know how it feels.

I am working on the Helmet though and i am almost done with the whole top and I fixed the sides to make them more "Flush". I have also cut out my fiberglass and I plan to try to FG/Resin the chest plate tomorrow even if its in my garage.

Good luck on that fiberglassing. Be careful around those detailed pieces if you're using an hd pep... if you don't fill them right, they'll become air-bubbles, which will ruin the piece when you go to sand it. I like to fill in the details with rondo (while using as little as possible) and then fiberglassing over that, leaving the broad flat areas un-rondo'd to get just straight fiberglass. Going pure rondo is a worse idea than having airbubbles under the fiberglass, as a side note.

Thanks for the advice and compliments. I fiber-glassed the Chest piece today and ill add pictures later because im about to add the second coat.
That stuff really smells bad, and yes I used a respirator. I am also hoping to measure and print of the shoulders and torso soon.

Also, thanks for the tip on the brushes. Within the 15 minutes my brush was as hard as a brick, which was cool but annoying all the same. So I am going to try and go to Harbor Freight and get some.

I added another layer of fiberglass where it was really weak and another layer of resin on the whole thing and I think I am done with it just as soon as it dries and I clean it up some.
Pictures will be on here maybe within the hour.

Update Time!
To start with... The fixed sides on the top, second is the FG/Resin Chest plate and third which I will take later is the Color for the chest plate which is Silver with black on top to show Battle Dmg.

I have sanded it some, which it needed because of the bumps, and I am letting the paint dry because it was running so that might be tomorrows pictures.

The Resin i used was Wall-mart default I would say.and I used This type of Fiberglass Mat.
