Oh ok u got me ! :p i wasnt looking like a min so .
well yours will be taff... and u will need a lot of time !
But if u have the time and the patience. it would look pretty epic.

Welcome to the 405th!

Great job and organization in you pep work. Very well done indeed. I've already completed this helmet, and yes it was my 1st attempt too. You will not need all those support skewers. The helmet is very sturdy and the probability of it warping is only dependent on: 1. how much resin you put on/how large a section. 2. The temp you do it in.

The hotter it is outside the more warping will occur, and the larger the area you try to resin at one time will do the same. So please just use 1 ounce of resin with 12 drops per go.....and let it dry! Then do the same thing inside with some fiberglass. Rondo will not cut it on a helmet.

If you want to do the detail, I think that is an admirable effort. I recommend useing super sculpy. I can explain how to use it if you want, but I'll wait to see if you want to try.

Good luck and I look forward to seeing your progress.

Thanks Im trying not to rush or be impatient with this but seening as that I have about a week till school I kinda wana finish this up quickly so i can begin my mascot outfit for my schools robotics team havent thought of what pieces of halo armor but Ill figure that out later.

Yes its been hot here where I live and today was the perfect day to resin the outside. I may or maynot do alot of details on this guy but if i ever remake this helmet and want it to look crazy ill probibly do that, anyway is super sculpy like mighty putty?

question on your camo helm, how long did that take you to paint it and how did u do it?

tomorrow i will have an update on the resin layer and then will begin to fiber glass
yay!

The actual painting on the helm only took 1 day. The prep work to do it took another day. If you check out my thread you can see I've already put the info on how to do the digi paint job. Idk what might putty is...Super sculpy is a polymer clay that is required to bake to harden. Then you can sand, carve, or paint to your hearts content.

finshed adding layer #2 of resin today. sucks im going on a weekend trip so no new updates till probibly tuesday or wednesday

ill post a pic of the resin layers in a bit

UPDATE TIME YAY

you would be surprised just how flexible visors are. i reckon most regular visors (non bubble) would fit in there without a worry. try putting it back in and then flexing the sides of the visor with your hands to get it to fit. of the three helmets i'v done so far, none of the visors were a perfect fit, they all had to be flexed to get them to look right. when you've got it sitting roughly where it should sit and fixed in place, you can backfill around the edges from outside the helmet with filler to make it look like it's a perfect fit. just remember to mask off the visor with a painters tape or something, you don't want to get filler on it as it can ruin it. swing by my armour build (link in my sig) and check out the process on my mkv helmet to see what i mean. it's probably the wrong visor to what you're using, but the fitting technique will still be exactly the same. best of luck :D

well im goning to need to cut the visor down because its way to big, as for flexablity my visor isnt all to flexable :/ stiilus i love ur threads ur work is awsome and i understand the filler part. but i have some really really large gaps to fill :( not pretty. ill try my best to figure out a way to make it work thought. ps when your going to put the filler in do u mount the viosr first or after?
Thanks so much
~update later tonight~

Hey guys well a problem has come up and I knew it would happen but I thought I was going to be able to handle it but I don't thin I can. I peped the detail piece inthe top and taped it of a put resin ontthe outside but not inside so it's pretty weak. I'm debating on ripping it off cleaning off the area and making the detail piece out of basswood. Do u guys think it's a good idea? I mean right now when I was sanding the bondo on it it started to rip a part :( would really appreciate any adivce thanks

awesome helmet, may i ask wich file is this?? because it looks so smooth and nice easy to build and great for starters!
