Yes that really surprised me too. But thats ok I have a gallon sitting on my desk now.

this project will start moving again.
That said this helmet is the same size for the upper as my M5,B but the neck guard( for the lack of a better word) is huge. I might trim it down a little once it thick enough to work with. I'm so looking forward to to smooth out the curves this weekend.

Yes, I will be using Smooth-on's Smoothcast 321 for this project. I just picked up a new gallon.

Between you and me, I like using Smooth-Cast for projects. In Oregon, it's a little difficult to have polyresin and bondo cure while not dying from the fumes (it gets cold in the winter). Smooth-Cast is a great hardener and doubles for polyresin when it comes to fiberglass. Not to mention, Smooth-Cast 65D can be used just like rondo for "slushing" on the inside for sanding the outside down and such.

Yes. I like it for the low fumes and it doesn't stink up my condo.

OK time for a update
I have added another 15 brush on coats of Smooth-Cast 321 to the helmet and refined some of the line work.
Some 12 hours of sanding later and this is where I'm at as of this weekend.

I know I am the worst in the world for building far to many things at the same time and saying I want to build this next and then changing my mind but I really want to do a Mandarin Spawn suit next, without that awful shield and slightly smaller feet

I like the Smooth-On 321 for working inside, too. You can work with it year round and like you said. . . . no stinking up the place with it. :cool

Great news to all my Cosplay and fellow prop builders. Spring is in the air. And with the rising temperatures so is my motivation. It's time to get my lazy rear back in the studio. That said I will be posting my weekly updates again starting this weekend. It's going to be a great year. I have 20 plus project's for this year, from 5 full suits, to weapons and helmets. Sorry for being gone so long. Thorn

Now on to the Gundam Charity Helmet

10 hours of sanding. Gundam helmet is pretty much smooth.
Still have about another 6 hours of sanding and a few add-ons yet. Then I can prep for molding this spring.

Picked up some new Filters for my respirator.
Added the side walls.

This will be ready for smooth coat paint and Molding soon.
