For my first build, I figured I might as well do something fairly easy. So I chose to do the Halo Reach M6G - B.
It is made of Styrofoam, but not finished yet. Yet...

What kind of foam is that. I've been trying to find some.

It is styrofoam. In NZ, it can be bought from Gordon Harris Art Supplies (as the blue variety, shown here), but it is also used in insulation in the rest of the world as well (I think).

UPDATE TIME!

I recently used some filler to smooth it out, then sanded the entire thing. In addition to that, I also made up the front attachment. On close inspection of the game model, this part houses a small torch/flashlight. So I added a torch/flashlight as well.

And with the torch/flashlight switched on.

Very awesome, it looks great!

The things people do with cardboard... keep up the good work!

You've got to find something to do with spare cardboard!
The main purpose of the cardboard is to add some detail, and cover over the large indents in the side of the foam, as I had to cut out the middle to get the torch to fit. But it works.

looking good. is it all one piece? if so, thats impressive.

The base of the magnum is one piece. The sides of the sight, the heat diffusers, and the hand guard are separate, as is the trigger, magazine, and laser on the front. Most of the gun, however, is one piece.
