Glitch's Caboose Build!

So as you all know a certain collection came out recently and I got caboose ready for it! (again)
It took a few weeks but i significantly improved my helmet (made a visor with 3d details and improved the underside of the helmet brim), put in yet another temporary chest connection solution (getting closer with it though)
and finally worked out a way to make my feet stop slipping out of my shoes (turns out elastic and super glue works pretty good)
I've been pretty busy lately so I havent worked on it/ posted progress as much as i'd like, but its definitely getting closer to a point where im happy with the costume.
I still want to put lights in, redo the bicep pieces and fix up the chest some more (lacking the details in the neck area and its not properly connected together)
I think then I'll be happy with it, going to try get that all done for brisbane supanova, but we'll see...
Anyway here are some pictures! there's also a vine of me and the chief there dancing on EB games' twitter page.
I'll have some more from the event soon hopefully

Got some more pics from the MCC launch!
Also working on the chest connections for supanova,
just finished the neck details on the chest, sealing and painting them tomorrow, and I resprayed the visor with a very light coat making it very easy to see out of the visor!
and there's reflective tint on the inside to avoid people with camera flashes seeing my face

HALF A YEAR LATER...
I HAVE RETURNED!

Also I made gus laugh, and found some new friends who are here in the 405th!
but beyond that, I haven't really worked on caboose since last year, up until a week or two ago where i decided I needed to finally finish the fight... err I mean costume.
I've already made halo 3 accurate boot treads out of rubber (not that anyone will ever see them), finished the connection between the front half and back half of the chest (it wasnt connected at the shoulders) which was done using cabinet roller door catches and briefcase latches, I also installed a helmet liner that's been sitting there waiting for me to glue it in properly, made a neck seal on the helmet to stop people seeing into my helmet from behind (hopefully) and started on some new shoulders because i'm unhappy with the scale of my current ones,
So here's the new list of upgrades:
- finish glassing, bog, sand, paint and pad new shoulders
- install lights in chest, back, thighs, shins and new shoulders
- make undersuit parts for top half of costume
- add tiny ribbed detail on front of shoe
I'm hoping to get it mostly done before Gold Coast supanova this weekend, so i'll check back in with updates over the week!
after I finish all that I think i'll be happy with this costume and move onto the next project!

So tomorrow is the friday of gold coast supanova,
and I have completed fibreglassing the shoulders, put the small detail on the front of the shoes and what I consider my biggest accomplishment of the last 2 days,
I made an undersuit for the mid section!!!

you're damn right it does (ok the back is not the best but im still pretty happy)
I used a 3d model from the game aswell as screenshots and the texture file for said 3d model to make the patterns for the undersuit.
This means that I have only tomorrow to put in lights, maybe finish making my new shoulder pieces and paint and strap them,

I agree, it looks righteous! I was wondering if maybe you would be willing to share those awesome patterns that you have made?
I really like the look. What material did you make it out of by the way??*crosses fingers and toes* Best of luck buddy.
haha I might be able to remake my pattern later but a lot of it was just looking at references and measuring random bits of the material to cut and fit appropriately,
so sadly I dont have a full pattern that i could give you,
It's made from black vinyl and some webbing that attaches to the cod piece, and the center and back detail bits are made from garden mesh material and the outline is some rubber cut to shape

The one there with the other blue spartan is John from the 405th here in aus, and ofcourse the pic with the girls is barb and arryn from RWBY (and Dr Grey in RvB) who took a bit of a liking to the suit!
but were dissapointed Joel wasnt under the helmet haha!
Still gotta do some work on the suit, put in lights and fix up the new shoulder strapping,
other than that I've got EB's starlight week coming up soon!

I'm back again!
just arrived home after an awesome weekend down at Sydney Supanova!
and have I got some awesome pics to show to you!
had a great time meeting up with my fellow 405th down south, and ofcourse completing my life goal of meeting Nathan Fillion,
here's the pictures!
There was also some dirty reds and mr red foo over at hanabee who is always a super cool guy
and ofcourse here are my pictures with Chris & Josh, and Nathan Fillion!!!
hoping to get some more work done on the lighting soon, beyond that i'll be back around november-ish for brisbane supanova and halo 5 this year!

Amazing pics dude, sorry I didn't run into you, wouldn't have minded taking a closer look at that suit it looks awesome!
And yes, SOOOOO jealous that you guys actually met up with Nathan, with the kids in toe standing in line for autographs wasn't high on my list of things too do. Alas..
