Right, so I've been lurking here forever and been awed by the numerous armors and such and finally got it into my head to build my very own Spartan. I am going with the Halo 4 MK 6/7 Spartan II. I've decided to follow in the footsteps of the Great Cereal Killl3r. I've never done a pep before this, so naturally I started with the helmet. Baby steps right? I also pep'ed out the torso at the same time. Let's take a look shall we?

That's the initial work. Fast forward a couple of weeks and we get to this:

You can't really see it(or maybe you can) but there was some unfortunate warping in the helmet and the "back" of the torso. I've cut off the shoulder pods both to be able to shape them and because I ultimately want to mold all this stuff and you can't mold the back of the torso with the pods in place. I am slowly working to smooth out the asymmetry in the helmet. I plan on almost COMPLETELY re-doing the back of the torso along with the pods. I am very thankful for all the hard work that went in to the pep models, but the back of the torso especially is woefully divergent from in-game designs. I am primarily working on the Helmet, but I dabble in the torso when I need to take a step back. Hope you all enjoy my hard work! Any and all pointers and constructive criticisms are welcome.

From my experience the helmet is usually one of the harder parts of the build, this may just be me though!

To say this is your first build it looks extremely good. I can't really give any advice on the warping issue as my helmet thankfully cured great and I primarily work with foam. Good luck with build, looking forward to see more of this! :)

I am very thankful for all the hard work that went in to the pep models, but the back of the torso especially is woefully divergent from in-game designs.

It seems that I am not the only one to have come to this unfortunate realization a bit too late. I used the same base files as you, but mine were altered for foam. I then looked at reference pictures and realized they were not close to what I was looking for. I did however, find the base model they are taken from... and to their defense, they are very accurate to that model. It is just not game accurate.

Your work is progressing nicely and it is good to see that you have the motivation to get past these hurdles... that and you are following the advise of the "great one", Cereal Kill3r! Can't go wrong there!

Thanks! Yeah, despite their differences and serious warping I'm not going to scrap the torso. I don't care how much bondo it takes but I WILL get it to look right! lol. I have some serious plans for this suit, some of which I don't think I've ever seen here before. I'm hoping to have everything finished, molded, and ready to go by September for Comic Con in Reno.

The armor is looking great! I look forward to seeing more of your progress and I do hope I'll get to see it in September. I run Great Basin Geeks and you're welcome to join the group. We have a very diverse set of members, maybe even some that could help with the build. Check us out on Facebook, https://www.facebook.com/groups/GreatBasinGeeks/
May the Force be with you, see you in September.
