So am back again, started my armor again since i wasn't happy with the other boots i made and the foam i used was thin so they were all wobbly. So the boots , i bought some thick foam and i also bought some surf boots or wetsuit boots. Watever you want to call them, i bought them not because of their awesome details but because they are high top wetsuit boots. So i will be figuring out how to attach the top piece that has the 3 trinagle details to the wetsuit so it can look like its appart from the armored boot. Same goes for the piece that goes inside the top of the feet, i will be glueing them on the bottom of the wings ( making a foam piece so the wings stay float and can look like they are appart from the armored boot as well). Ill post a picture so you can understand better , its like an extended piece for support. the hole thing is raw soo the pictures show pieces that are like misplaced so the thing aint glued or completed yet. So hope you guys like it.

1624771_10154030077335002_1080274517_n_zpsf24f140a.jpg

and this is the result ( the white paper is the piece of foam that will be glued inside the boot )

Looking good, I like the boot in separate pieces, should look good in movement. Keep it up.

I've used surf boots and they're a problem. Hot glue doesn't seem to stick well to them, probably because they're made from a waterproof material with no pores or anything. They're also soft and their surface deforms with your feet. Mine were coming apart after about an hour of careful walking around.

So you should look into other kinds of glue for putting the boot pieces and the surf boots together. I've also considered using plasti-dip on the surf boots but haven't had a chance to test it yet.

Those look a pair of pretty awesome boots but try adding some more tone with some darker green shades on the edges to make it more realistic and awesome or some fake screw patterns, because that always popular on halo armor.

Thanks , actually they arent painted. Thats just green foam lol but i will make them detailed with paint ( airbrush to be exact and a little dry brushing will do the trick)

Thanks for the advice but i only bought them for their high tops. They will be attached with screws on the bottom.

That's a good idea! Also, I've used 2-3 layers of foam to create platform shoes to get a better height (I have a relatively big head so I needed the extra inches) which you don't seem to go for.

However, the two extra pieces of the boot are actually "floating" pieces, attached directly to the undersuit's boots instead of the other pieces. Those were the pieces where the glue ave up first...

Yeah , forgot about that lol the layer thing, Thank goodness you mentioned it since it wasnt going to be enough to hold the hole wetsuit boot to the armored boot. Yeah the floating pieces , i just glued the one that goes inside or on top of the foot and will make 2 holes with screws to attach and hole them in place and to cover the screws ill make another layer with a thin foam to cover them since i didnt have a chance with the wetsuit boots. Theres velcro and magnets but i just couldnt figure out how wince it wouldnt work but it will look awesome, ill post pics soon so you can undestand the concept since am bad at explaining things without pics lol . Now , what worries me is the the top piece that is "floating " that has the 3 triangles , i dont know what to do with that part lol

So i finally finished the shin good lord lol i suck at foam sooo freaking bad and i ran out of foam because of all the trial and error with this since those curves things that go where the calfs are ,they are a killer to make but am very happy with the results. This are the before it was all messed up when i decided to just call it quits because there where to many gaps , seams horrible lol a huge shout to Cali Cosplay thanks man the scaling tutorial that you posted it helped big time, i only printed once and it was the perfect scale, thanks alot bro . if it wasnt because of you i woudlnt have done this lol . Soon the other shin when i get more foam. Details are foamies and 6 mm thick foam . Also am aware that the back of the boot is kinda burned with melted glue but i fixed the glue thing but it has those burn marks , the thing is while i was glueing the shin the hot knife fell on the boot without me noticing it until i smelled smoke hahahaahahahahahaha then i got glue on the thing because i panic but its battle damage for sure on that particular piece lol . Until next time.
