Hey everyone so I'm currently working on an ODST suit but its not going to be ready for San Deigo Comic Con so I'm going to make a pair of M7 SMG's for me and my buddy because we're going as UNSC Marines and we don't want to be considered COD cosplayers so I have a week to build and finish so does anyone have any recommendations for resining the inside?

A week? Panic. Unless you have seven days of nothing that's going to be a tall order.

As for resin: resin the outside once or twice, then bore a small hole and pour/roll some around on the inside.

Re: Need advice when making a M7 SMG

Holy crap. That is a very ambitious project.

I have done pep weapons before, and i highly do not recommend it. Especially if you are in a time crunch. Your best bet would be to try to scratch build from wood of foam. Cut out the basic shape, and do a layer of thinner material on top for the details.

But if you still want to go with the pep version, do 2 light coats of polyester resin on the outside, and then drill a hole inside, and pour in some resin on the inside. You may even have better results if you do rondo on the inside. It will cure faster.

Good luck.

Re: Need advice when making a M7 SMG

Like ser justinian said, try templates. I suggest thin wood plates or maybe foam. print out some templates with the detail and make layers using those templates. after getting the basic shape you can use thin wood pieces or crafting foam to add the little details on the outside of the weapons. with a lot of effort you can have two done in no time. Oh and with a decent amount of cash in the wallet for materials.

Well so long as I don't mess anything up I'm good

I did have an early attempt at success though and I didn't put the detail hole pieces in first, so not I know with number two to do it first. If everything goes to plan I will resin Sunday

Re: Need advice when making a M7 SMG

That's some excellent pep work, so you have a good start. You should start resin coating that one while you build the second that way you'll have a better chance of having at least one finished. Good luck.

Re: Daul M7 SMG's in a Week!

looks like you are close to done. I recommend resining the first and keeping it a step ahead whilst you are working on the second. that way you will at least finish pone in time in case something goes wrong.
