This is my first build so i'm still learning as i go. This started as a summer project and i was planning on building the helmet only, but once i started i was hooked. I started the helmet in mid-May of 2014 and finished it around early August. I've installed some leds on the inside to give that visor effect as seen in the game and a fan to help with cooling.

The rest of the armor is made from eva foam. i used pep files as a reference but most of it was free handed to fit me (i'm 5'3" so i'm not the tallest spartan). the lower half of the armor still needs to be built. im hoping to complete this by the end of Oct. let me know what you guys think!

p.s. follow me on instagram to see the visor leds in action and also updates on my armor. info's in my profile. thanks!

What did you do for thw visor on the helmet, because that is a sexy visor and that helmet is great too. The details on the torso are great aswell.

That helmet looks awesome! Really jealous of how good it looks. I'm wondering how did you go about doing the visor for it?

It's just a piece of petg .020 plastic I got off of eBay. I used the same visor template from the helmet pep file and traced out the general shape. From there, I trimmed and bent it into the shape that you see. I practice first with card stock to ensure a proper fit

Woah sorry for the double post tapatalk said the first one didn't go through. How did you go about tinting the visor?

Super awesome work here! Really makes me want to break out the foam. But I still haven't decided what game to go with, Reach or 4.

I would also like to know what you used for tinting the visor, and is that something you apply to the inside or outside?

i used black idye poly, there's other colors but i wanted black. if you decide to go about this route, make sure you get the "poly" one, since its specifically made for plastics. i followed this tutorial on youtube on how to do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lGUf1VpvICI

I love the work! :) It looks awesome! How was the pep side of the costume? I've worked with pep before and its very time consuming.

Thanks. Not sure if I'm addressing your question correctly but the only pep I used was the helmet, everything else was pretty much free handed from foam. This was my first time doing pep so I took my time during the resin/fiberglass and bondo stage and it is definitely time consuming! So much sanding!!!

Whhoopss! sorry for not being accurately stated! I meant to ask if the pep took a long time to do XD and yes u answered my question hehe! I agree sanding is quite a pain! Looking very awesome!

From the picture your helmet looks very smooth and your attention to detail is very good. Hopefully when I start my build I can have the patience to make it look as nice as yours!

Thanks. Patience is definitely key here (a little bit of O.C.D. doesn't hurt either lol). My advice: don't rush it even if you want it done by a certain date. The amount of time and work you put in still show in the final stages.

Cool, I want to thank you guys! Didn't think I'd meet yall here! It was so easy to do too since you guys made such an awesome video. Definitely easier and cleaner than using the niteshade spray!

We tried the niteshade spray stuff on our first visor (for our Borderlands Zer0 cosplay) and the visibility was soooo bad! When we did our Halo build, we built a Gungnir helmet, so we actually didn't have to use it to tint a Halo visor, lol. But it worked like a charm for our Daft Punk helmet too! If you are ever at a con in the Indiana area, let us know! Would be cool to say HI!

UPDATE: Boots, shins. Cod, and knee pads are built. Knee pads still need detailing and everything needs to be painted. Thigh armor still needs to be built.

Note: knee pads are just placed on top of the shin for the photo, its going to be attached separately from the shin
