your work is awesome as usual, The sniper rifle is my personal fave :p your video is frikin hilarious lol. Keep up the great work

Thanks. Hopefully in a couple of weeks I'll have the M90A shotgun ready for molding.

Let me know if you need anything. I'll have to sell something to pay for the moldmaking materials...

I've finally gotten back to this little project. The whole shotgun is pretty much done except for the sights and the pump grip. Now I'm working on the pump grip. Here's the initial layout starting:

The plan is to cast it in two separate halves so they can be bolted around the barrel and the lower tube. This way it will still be able to slide back and forth:

Here's the basic shape roughed out.

It still needs a bit of work, but it's coming together. Hopefully I'll be able to mold this in the next week or so. Stay tuned...

Not much to brag about. I've made a tiny bit of progress on the shotgun pump grip and never bothered to post it:

I've also put a gloss coat on the main body so I could better smooth out the parts that needed smoothing:

Of course, this makes it all that much clearer how much work I still have to do on this thing. While I was getting ready for the Maker Faire last month, I was putting together a to-do list each day. At the bottom of the list each day was "finish shotgun prototype" and it essentially turned into a running joke.

In the end, I just wrapped the plastic pump grip with black duct tape so my "Sarge" would have soemthign to carry. It looked okay, but that was probably just because it was lost in the overwhelming mass of everything else:

I'm sure I'll get back to it soon. First I need to get excited about it again.

In the meantime, I've started yet another weapon build. For now it looks like so:

I've got Lopez working on the next slice of this particular build right now. Stay tuned...

No comments at all? Maybe I didn't post enough pictures...

Here's the next slice coming out of the machine:

And a quick fit test:

I'm not quite sure if I want to start over and make it that little bit bigger. I've got one of Adam's ARs and the main body of that one feels right at about 3/4" longer overall.

Can't wait to see some more of that AR.
I love the ingenuity of your home made dust collector for Lopez.

P.S. I find myself asking if the fire extinguisher is kept so close at hand from previous experience or just as a precautionary act.

I can't take credit for the dust collector design. I based it off of a similar design that another maker posted over at the Carvewright forum.

The fire extinguisher is just a precaution. The machine makes a hell of a lot of noise, so I'm in the habit of leaving it alone in the shop while I work on other things. I tell everyone on the property to stop in and give it a glance every hour or so just to make sure it's not tearing itself apart. With this model of machine it's not unheard of for the very fine wood dust catching fire from the friction heat of the cutting bit. They're usually very small fires that are contained within the machine, but if someone walks in on one I don't want them to wonder where the extinguisher is.

Just in case, there's another one by the door.

So after thinking on it a bit, I decided to make the AR just a bit bigger and start over. Here's the first slice while Lopez was whittling it for me:

And then the second slice:

The two pieces that will make the left half laying side-by-side:

And here they are epoxied together and clamped to the table saw so they'll lie flat when the epoxy cures:

I started Lopez on the first slice of the right half about two and a half hours ago. Hopefully I'll have that done today and I'll get him started on the outer slice for the right side before I go to bed tonight. Then all that'll be left will be the new, slightly larger magazine.

The plan is to cast these in high density flex-foam so they can be dropped without shattering. They'll also be good for bludgeoning your opponents without damaging them.

well my BR55 that i ordered from thor is all done and here are pix of it. if you are even thinking about getting one its so well worth it. its really nice.....

Test fitting the rifle after the fourth slice was added:

For better effect, I also snapped a quick cellphone pic with my BLACKULA commando helmet on:

This seems like a decent fit. Now I just have to start smoothing it out and cut the new larger magazine.

Meanwhile, I've still been doing a bit of smoothing on the shotgun prototype:

If that's not enough, I've also started a scratch build of a Predator M-3 Heavy Pistol from Mass Effect 2:
5842883846_feb2e99728_o.jpg

I'm starting to run low on propmaking funds and I'm due to start molding a whole bunch of things simultaneously. I guess I'll have to start selling things now, so shoot me a PM if you see anything you'd like to own.

Comments/criticisms welcome as always.

I'm really diggin your AR! Are you going for the H3 look?

I'm gonna be coming to you again while I'm deployed, not just for the boots but I'm really wanting your sniper rifle and hopefully soon to be shotgun kit! Hard times I'm feeling it too :'(

Keep up the good work!

Looks great, really looking forward to the M-3 Predator.

If you're interested in Mass Effect weapons I can send you my 3D render of the M9 Tempest for use in Lopez milling:

I need to rework a small portion of the grip but I can create the slices to whichever thickness of material you are using.

Thor, you amaze me yet again!

At first I was like... "Hm... Shotgun! I like!"
Then I was like: "Oh nice! Assault Rifle! Thor has been busy!"

But when I saw the M3 Heavy Pistol... You make a man cry, good sir. (Happy tears, infact!)
