vv_7 ODST WIP - my first attempt(pic heavy)

Hi,

I decided to build ODST armor since it seems easier than Spartan Armor (but I am finding out it's not that much easier as I progress further).

I documented every step. You can check it out HERE. I credit the modellers and unfolders.

Blah, blah, blah PICTURES!!!

My first pep was too big. I made a smaller pep using a different model.

Did a LOT of sanding.
Used RONDO / MUD

I used a dremel to add the grooves.

I dont like the back so I am thinking of redoing just the back.

I am machining the buckles out of aluminum. I still have not decided how to make the box shaped thing on the belt buckle.

The "Y" or "4" shaped things on the stomach pads will also be machined out of aluminum.

and the breast plate. The pep was too small so I added some extra cardboard.

I should have the Bondo finished on the breast plate soon.

Thanks all. I got inspired by all the great work showcased here. I still have a long way to go...

Nightshade's model on the chest.
No, i used Elmer's glue for the helmet pep (actually elmer's on all my peps).

how on earth did you make it that smooth?

several (i think 3-4) thin layers of bondo with tons of sanding in between. But i'm really not sure what part you are speaking of. But my goal is a smooth armor overall.

Now picture of my half complete belt buckle:

I think I need to shave more metal off the center section of the large square part. I was also thinking of milling some designs. I will machine the chunky box end of the belt buckle in the next couple of days.

That is the Rondo/Mud method. there is a tut in here about that. I also wrote an instructable about it too HERE.

*edit* Part of it is I use gold bondo. I tried the regular pink stuff and got discouraged right away. the gold (actually green) stuff sands so much easier.

Here are pictures of my upper arm armor. I feel they are completely done.

I also documented how to make decals/stickers. Let me know if you want to see pictures of the process.

Man I had to take a double take on the demo of the casting resin. Great looking build so far can't wait to see it done

making stickers

Here are my making stickers pictures. Please note that the images for my stickers I made on Windows paint except for the USNC logo. That said, they are no way accurate.

MS Paint (remember to reverse the image)

Ok dude, wow. Love the stickers, great hustle on making those work! They look fantastic! Did you make a duct tape dummy for your torso or used another method? Your progress looks great dude, keep up the good work!
