Hello 405th! Well, I decided to start this project when it was too cold to work on the Recon helmet that I’m still building (I promise I will finish it). However, I’m really excited about this build. It’s definitely the hardest helmet I’ve ever pepped. With that said it was the most satisfying. I did all the following to the pep last week. Enjoy. And as always, I welcome any and all constructive criticism.

Model By Ruze; unfold by Ruze (Thanks for this amazing model! Its da bomb yo!)

Fantastic Deal I got on a gallon of Resin. Thanks DiaryBoy for finding this. 17.99 a gallon

I know it still has alot of Bondo work left. Im going to try and finish this tomorrow. Thanks for viewing my build.

Also, I was thinking about doing a tutorial on the visor install. My visors are removable & I carve the detail into them. Let me know if you guys would even like something like that. If so, would you prefer a separate thread or Include in this one?

Happy building 405th!

yes, please make a tutorial showing how you carve the detail and install the visor. the helmet looks great so far BTW.

Happy building 405th!

I think a seperate one would be a good idea because then it would be featuring the visor more and people viewing it who are looking for a way to their visors. Maybe put some of your visors you already have done in it too.

Have you ever tried this method with ODST? Not sure if it would work but I have been looking for more ways to do them.

By the way the helmet is looking great. Keep the good work.

Dude... your helmets always make feel inadequate D:

I wish I had the time to work on my armour more! This is AMAZING!

Also ,a visor tutorial would be good. NEver too many tutorials.

Man, I really appreciate all the comments. Thanks guys. I plan on doing this one up real nice and making a mold of it. Thanks again for the awesome comments.

Visor tutorial:

Looks like people definitely want this. I’ll try and get this one up soon as a separate thread.

Resin:

Well, about the resin, its from a company that manufactures it for boat in my local Tampa Bay Area. I went there last week after I found out about them from DiaryBoy of the 405th (Thanks again, DiaryBoy). The people there at Fiberglass Coatings Inc. are extremely nice and really helpful. I spoke with one of the sales guys there and he told me that they can offer such a low price because they buy in large quantities (By the tanker load).

Well here is a link to their site: http://www.fgci.com/Default.aspx

Once there (FGCI’s Site)

Go to the online store

Click on resins,

Then, Polyester Resins

Next, Choose Boatyard

FYI, you have to get the hardener separate (5 dollars additional)

Thanks again everyone for visiting my build. I appreciate it. Keep building 405th!

Visor test fit

Well, here are a few more pictures. This is the visor test fit. All in all it came out ok, but I have to figure out how to close up the gaps between the visor and the helm. With that said, if anyone still wants that tutorial, I took a bunch of pictures of everything I did.

Here you go. As always, feel free and let me know what you think fellow 405thers!

@BLACKULA:

Looking KILLER dude! Can't wait for more updates.
Thanks buddy, I will have some soon. Hope to have the bondo & glazing (spot filler) work finished. I don’t want to rush it, because I want it perfect. I plan on carving the detail into it and using magic sculpt for the cheek & vent details as well as closing up the gaps in the visor. Thanks for checking out my build, I appreciate it.
I feel special for helping... :3
awesome helmet btw!!!
Thanks Diaryboy. I appreciate you sharing that information with me. I’m just glad the place is only 10mins from my house, so I don’t have to pay for shipping. Also, you took on quite a challenge in completing your Armor for Miami Comic Con (Wish I could have been there). I was watching your build, looks like it was coming along nicely. Keep building DiaryBoy!
