so i have finally done some more work on my helmet. this is the first time i have gone this far in the process, the last two i make got ruined when i was moving. =( anyways, can anyone take a quick look and tell me any pointers? i have done fiberglassing and bondo work in the past for some automotive repairs, but this is a different beast to me. any input is needed, positive or negative.

cant figure out how to post phots right here so this will have to do for the time being.

I've used rondo on both my helmets, but I've used fiberglass on other projects. It's a bit late now, but I leave the visors in place until I finish the bondo on the outside. I can't really say if it makes a difference, it's just how I do it.

When you bondo the outside remember not to over apply or you will kill yourself trying to sand it like I did with my first helmet. Good Luck.

this looks great!however im not sure if it is the fiberglass, but some of the tabs look a bit crooked, like when you where put ing it together it went sideways. if so, the numbers need to be aligned with each other. if not, sorry for being a downer. but great work! cant wait to see you wearing this

yeah some of them are a tad bit off but i did put a good amount of effort into making sure they were aligned. but i was trying a couple different things on this one for assembling the base. i can get it aligned up with bondo and a good little power sander. i think its going quite well though. thanks for the input too!!! :)

it looks to me like you haven't resined the outside. my advice for future projects, resin the outside first. i actually had to toss a helm because i didn't resin the outside first.

how does resining the outside make a difference? i had no issues with it at all so far..... and if it is strong enough on the inside why would i need to do the outside?

Well... The front view of the helmet looks like some places are warped, but then again im on my phone. Resining the outside would help the model keep it's shape when yo fiberglass it on the inside. Also you will probably have to put bondo over the entire helmet to get a nice finish instead of just in the areas that need filling and shaping. You could probably go over the outside with a coat of resin too cause bondo probably sticks better to resin than paper. Overall you did a good job though!!

When you sand the bondo you will always go further than the bondo in some places. If it is resined you will start to see that goldish color. If it is just paper you will see the paper fray and it wont paint very well. I would recommend resining before you start the bondo.
