Im not done yet. . . LOL

Good to hear :)

Its nice to see someone do this version of the pep and do it well.
Sadly it wasnt around when we did ours, but you have inspired me to think about doing another version with that pep instead of Dubean's original.

look forward to seeing one finished.

Very impressive. How did u get the detailed lines and screws on the side? dremel?

Thank you!, The screw detail was made with a hobby knife dragging it along the drawn detail backwards. (on the dull side of the knife) then I cleaned it up with a pick. Another little trick I used was I took super glue and applied it very lightly to the edge of the screw then sanded the edge. Immediately went behind that with the knife and carved more out. IT is very tedious but it get it done.

Awesome! I love your helmet. I would love to see another. I am going to try my hand at some halo helmets soon. I have heard that the Iron man peps are harder to do than the halo peps. Considering that this helmet is my first pep ever. . . I cant wait to do them. I love Dubeans helmets. and this one was sharks helmet file I think. This is going to be fun...

2.0 Rebuild and enhancement.

Since the forums are back Id thought a share a massive update on my Iron Man helmet 2.0 if you will... Any way this started out to be a 6 part kit... Yeah ok. At this moment this to my knowledge is the only 14 piece kit out there. And soon I will be adding cheek parts, and a frame to go behind the eyes. I would like to add that this helmet is not a new pep. The is a resculpt of my original. 3 of my first casts went into the final version.

Bigger brow. Also added the styrene edge

Filler 1st pass.

Finer smoothing with the glazing putty.

Re-Skinning the jaw with styrene (cheap ole "for sale" sign) Now it has perfect flat symmetrical lines.

Keep checking the fit on parts that have a mating edge.

Checking the fit.

s15_zps92c0bee6.jpg

I just did like the old one so I cut it out completely and added a flat styrene socket. Then made a new cutout section out of styrene. to get the curve back I added 3 strips of styrene in the back to give it a arch in the middle. The middle strip was thicker to keep the curve compound with the helmet.

I over cut to compensate for the new socket. So to remove the extra space.

I used my laser cutter to cut new ears for the helmet.
s23_zpsc1e83c64.jpg

Then I filled the edge with bondo.

Primer!

The bolts were also cut on my laser.

Wanted this helmet to be better than the rest out there. And none of them have a Avengers feel to them. Like this:

So I decided to make my helmet even more parts. LOL

The rest of the steps are just checking alignment, priming, wet sanding, and adding finer details. Also notice the sockets I made for the bolts. That way no pesky bubbles in the fine detail!

Wow man, that looks insane! Very clean and detailed. Seeing this gives me motivation to put more time and effort on even the small things Im working on.

Finished the molding today. 6 layers of Rebound 40 and a fiberglass mother mold. Im already starting a new mold. Next one is going to be a matrix mold using moldmax 30.
