Hey 405th,
As you all should know, Halo-ween is coming up right behind me, and I gotta get cracking! I'm doing a Gangster-ish feel to it, as in, I'm going to wear a Fitted hat on top of it haha. I have pepped the helmet itself, along with some of the attachments. Such as, Hul-3 (carter's helmet attachment) and MissingSpartan7's recon helmet detail.
Halo-ween has since passed....

This is what i began with. It took me like 2 months just to get to this point!

[/IMG]
I got farther, but still not complete.

Here we go! The only problem I ran into were the sides of the helmet, you know, the 5 vent/ridges on the side.

Here is me wearing it before the attachment were thrown on. I know the lighting wasn't that good, but it is what it is.

This is when I put the attachments on.

When i said I had a fitted, I meant it. Lol, I forgot to mention I was also gonna wear a black hood with it.

I went to Wal-Mart and purchased (yes, I am one of those people who says purchased...Don't judge me...) some Bondo Fiber glass resin, and cloth for around 15 bucks, I love you Wal-Mart!

IMG00072-20111023-1714.jpg
[/IMG]
Here is my workstation of the resin, and don't worry, I have been on here long enough to know to buy a respirator...your judging me aren't you....

IMG00074-20111023-1714.jpg
[/IMG]
...Anyway, this is when I finished my last coat of resin. Yes, I did 3 coats. Am I supposed to do that? I don't know. Would I like to know? Yes I would.

So this concludes my first installment of Halo-ween recon!

***UPDATE***
Hey 405th,

That's it for now. Can't wait for bondo!!!

I hate to quadruple post, but no one is replying!!! This build isn't THAT bad.

never get frustrated from lack of comments, people look even if they don't have anything to say. a lack of comments doesn't mean it's a bad build though.

I think you're on the right track, but I'd like to see some sanding done! the paint job you did for the costume contest was very sexy lookin, like the black with blue visor.

Keep working on it, don't get frustrated, double posts aren't as harshly looked down upon if you've made progress! you're doing great

Okay, I think you did a good job with the helmet. My only Critism is the size. It may be a we bit to small. But hey, I messed up on my recon :p. My Recon was possibly to big for the chief himself, I'm talking bobble head crazy big. Also, there is a better file for the attachment (no disrespect to the creator). I just think that the RUZE attachment file is more game accurate. Be good buddy, you're doing great!

Slight delay

Sorry for the delay 405th, I have been really busy and would've been able to resin the fiber glass cloth over the past weekend, but never got around to it.
Now, quick question: What brand of bodyfiller do you all buy. Just curious because I'm going out to get some soon and want the can with the utmost quality.
Thank you all,
-Cross

I just grab what ever is at the store at the time. I've been using evercoat recently because I've been getting it free.

***Small Update***
I have just went out and purchased some Bondo Body Filler, and some spreaders. I'm pretty happy with the look of it. I bought a gallon, but that seems like a bit much. The only reason why I bought it was because it was the last can besides the quart. And that quart was like major dented. When I saw it I was like, "what the hell?" So hear I am. I didn't want to wait because I was really anxious.
That's it for now,

Good luck with the Bondo Process, Just put it on with thin coats so you don't have to sand to death, and with a Gallon of Bondo, you now have enough to do a complete suit and a few more helmets;)

So sorry for the delay with all this, I actually won't be able to do anything for a while now. Wrestling season is starting up, and I have practice everyday, so this will get really slow...

There is a crack of hope for me to resin the fiberglass inside the helmet TODAY. I will put pics up as soon as it will dry! Then maybe bondo!

...Well this is embarrassing...My phone isn't sending the emailed pics I took while resining the fiberglass inside the helmet! Oh well, I'm gonna put on another coat tomorrow and just see what happens...Sorry everyone...

***update***

Hey 405th,
FINALLY!!!!!!! I finished both coats of resin on the fiberglass! I am getting ever closer to the Bondo stage!! Here are some pics to keep you all entertained:

IMG00115-20111126-1533.jpg

IMG00116-20111126-1533.jpg
Here is my work station...a bit cramped...

IMG00117-20111126-1533.jpg
This the place where i didn't resin on the outside because the HUL-3 was here, but I since took it off and gave it to a friend because I will be getting one of Blackula's fine, fine casts of his HUL-3.

IMG00118-20111126-1533.jpg
And this is a similiar story only with the recon helmet nav link. Only this time no one sent a me a better one lol.

So yup, this is the end of the update, next time I hope to get some bondo done. This to me seems like the most fun of the entire process. Please tell me why you would disagree lol.

Hey 405th,
Personally, I believe I'm on a roll! 2 updates in 2 days! WOOT!

Anyway, after my second layer of fiber glassing resin was thrown on(not literally) I wanted to test the hardness with my uncle's old motorcycle helmet. I banged my helmet a couple times the did it to my uncle's. MINE WAS HARDER(don't get the wrong idea).

After the test, I stripped my uncle's helmet down so I could use the fabric and padding. Now don't get all excited because my uncles helmet was not that great. I mean After all, I DID manage to make mine harder. And mine was homemade! So the padding was a bit scarce to say the least.

Onto the pics!!!
IMG00119-20111126-2006.jpg
Just trying out the padding fit.

IMG00120-20111127-1652.jpg
All the components but I will probably scrounge around to find some more black fabric.

IMG00121-20111127-1652.jpg
The piece that will be in the crown of the helmet. A.k.a., on the highest point of my head.

IMG00122-20111127-1652.jpg
The entrance/neck/jaw line pad. (mostly for comfort and asthetic purposes.)

IMG00123-20111127-1653.jpg
Here is the piece I was most excited to find. This is the helmet liner so I thought it would be awesome to have one just like Walter "Spase"'s recon helmets do.

So this concludes the next update, and like I have said but not completely fulfilled, Bondo is to be done!!!
