Hey everyone,

I'm back again and for the first time I'm making a gun that isn't from Halo :D

I'm making this prop for a friend of mine (who may or may not have gotten me addicted to Fallout 3) and I'm really excited for this one! The Plasma rifle is her favorite gun in the game and after having played it and using it myself I know exactly why. It's AMAZING!

So a lot of the design of this gun is tubular in nature; not particularly ideal for woodworking, but perfect for plumbing. As it turns out, my dad just so happens to be a plumber, which means I can get most of the parts I need for free :D

So without further ado, here is what I've made so far of the Fallout 3 Plasma Rifle.

If you know anything about plumbing, you're probably asking, "how did it go from being black ABS to white PVC pipe?" It didn't. It's just a coat of white primer lol.

I'll be starting on the frame/stock next. Stay tuned.

alls i can say is wow! more amazing work from the lost viking! What did you use for the microfusion cell?

Thanks! To make the microfusion cell, I used two PVC end caps, one of which is cut in half and glued upside down to other. I don't remember what I used for the contact on the top, but I shoved a magnet down inside of it.

Well the plumbing section of the gun is finished so on to the woodworking section.

And here's the basket for the microfusion cell. It will swing out to the side and be reloadable just like in the game.

Damn man this is awesome! :D i love the plasma gun and especially the way how realistic you got on the microfusion cells - they look just like the ingame ones. Keep it up! I subscribed.

where are you getting your measurements from? me and a friend are working on the laser rifle together and he jokingly said, "next we'll be making the plasma rifle!" to which i widened my eyes. you're doing an excellent job!

Thanks everyone.

This is the last update before it gets painted. In other words, it's done!

That's it for now. It's too bad this wasn't a very popular thread, I had a lot of fun with this project.

Next time you see this baby it'll be all painted up and in the hands of its proud and rightful owner! :D

I don't care if it was a popular thread, it's beautiful work just the same. You've done a fantastic job of seamlessly mating up such a huge variety of materials. I can't wait to see the paint go on.

Haha! I'll let it slide just this once lol. Can I say I think your New Vegas anti-material rifle looks fanfreakingtastic? Well too late. I just did!

And now, here it is in all of its Vault-Tec glory, and in the rightful hands of it's proud new owner, I PRESENT TO YOU THE FINISHED PLASMA RIFLE!

P.S. Rumor has it she's having a Fallout 3 raider costume made for her, so maybe they'll be future pics of that. ;)
