Alright I'll keep this simple and organized, Oh and hello everyone, I am a new member to the 405th, I hope to make many friends here! Anyways...

My Plan: Make a full suit of Halo 3 Mark VI MJOLNIR Armor before Comic-con 2012, and in general.

What I am hoping... The armor will be done painted and ready by that time.

Everything done so far... I have the back of the Mark VI chest plate finished and am finishing the rest, I only have the Pepp of it done not anything else of the chest/armor.

Also, I may ask questions along the way as I make updates and such, so If I do, Please just help me if you can! If not, I'll just read the stickies. Thanks! :)

By the way, it is nice to meet you all and to be on the forum!

Hello and welcome to the 405th! I am looking forward to see pictures of your build. We, the Mark VI-builders just need to inspire ourselves! ;) It is a really ambitious project to get a whole armor done within one month. I hope you don't rush it, because I've already seen high quality creations which were given up just of the reason not to be able to finish it for a certain deadline.
I've also set one for me: Game City 2012 (Vienna, Austria) on 12th of October. Exactly four months to go, and all I've done now is pepping the helmet.
Anyways, I wish you good luck and fun during your building process and also for the time spent here at the 405th.

Welcome to the 405th Gray! Glad to see you are so eager to get started with your build.

The close deadline however is a great hurdle that everyone has experienced before. I have seen people take more than a year to complete just the detailing, on the other hand I have seen some done withing a few months and create their helmet in a couple of days. I have high hopes that you can finish but be sure to be prepared for long nights with cutting, gluing, and lots of caffeine :D

Good luck and have fun with it!

An Update is at hand!
I have taken some pictures of what is going on while I work/what I have done so far!

Alrighty... Pictures! :)

First Off, the sloppy work area I have...
DSC00624.jpg

THis is the area that I put the cut outs, which is a mess...
DSC00625.jpg

Now the armor/what I have done so far...
DSC00626-1.jpg

...And the front!
DSC00627.jpg

Anyways, I thank you all for your support, I will keep working, Oh and if you ask...I accidentally chose the normal definition chest plate rather than the HD one :( But that will not stop me from making the rest look as good as I humanly, and with the help of you guys, can!

By The way! I may not be making updates or anything for that matter until the end of this week because I am still in school and am finishing up testing, Remember school always comes first!

Ah, yes. Testing is over and summer is here, as well as an update!

So far all I have done is the chest now, here are 3 pictures of different views.

The front is looking pretty good, and since I am so skinny, I don't have to cut the abdominal area off of it!
[URL="
DSC00628.jpg
[/URL]

The side makes it seem a bit big on me, but you need to look big, and I am not sure If I will grow that much in 4-5 months from now so, yeah...
DSC00629.jpg

And the back, I am not going to keep it like this, neither the front, I just need to find a way to add details to the areas that need it, if anyone could help? :D
DSC00630.jpg

The next things I will work on, after I get some details in the chest, will most likely be the shoulders and gauntlets, but thing is, my shoulders aren't exactly wide, so I may have to use CQB shoulders or something, I'll just try to keep it to MarkVI for now!

An Update!

Big Update Time!

Alright, so I have now finished the pepping part of the armor, except for the helmet, here are some pictures of what I have done at the moment!

This is the lower half of what I have done so far, the shins seem really out of proportion though.

DSC00693.jpg

This is the upper half of the armor that I have completed, I used everything LD for the chest, shoulder and forearms.

DSC00694.jpg

I hope my left thigh piece looks fine, because It feels like it would need little padding.

DSC00695.jpg

The shin pieces look really out of proportion with the rest of the armor, so If anyone could help, please tell me how I'd fix them so that the back would wrap around my leg more than it is at the moment, If I wore them as they are, I'd have to waddle. :p

DSC00698.jpg

This is a picture of how big this thing is on me from the inside view, the shin piece is WAY too big as it is, but the height is just alright, I scaled it to about 485 mm in height. If anyone could help with anything that could tell me how to fix the back, please do tell! :D

DSC00699.jpg

This is just a side view showing the depth that the shin piece carries to it, and it is a lot! The depth is a ridiculous factor in the armor in general because my walking will be heavily effected as a result of the width and depth of the shins.

DSC00702.jpg

Just a picture with both of the thigh pieces on, they look a correct size to me, maybe a tad too small, but they should be fine in time for NYCC!

DSC00696.jpg

And lastly I need some help with the MARKVI Helmet, I have a model of an HD helmet, but I have scaled my head from my chin to the top of my head to about 34.0 cm and if I were to enter that into the peppakura designer program it would make quite a lot of the pieces to the helmet not fit on the pages that well, and I am not sure if that would be too big, because I know that it does not scale the things to be exact and I was wondering If you guys had any tips for that? Because I am really just stuck, and I saw two scaling tutorials, so those won't help much for this situation, the two being HaloGoddess' Scaling Tutorial, and I believe the other was Spitfire22V's scaling tutorial. So If you have anything that could help, please do not hesitate to share some information on the problem I am having, and thank you guys, and please tell me on how I am doing so far! :$

Oh and here is what I mean with the helmet problem, this is scaled to 340 mm.

Well I'll tell you right now that your shin is too tall. It may look fine from a side view and you would assume that it should start at your ankle and go up to cover you knee, but take a look at Master Chief's shin, it's relatively small. First, you have to take into account the boot. The way you have your shin right now, there would be no room for the boot at all. The Mk VI boot will easily extend up past your ankle and the shin should rest about an inch ABOVE the boot (not on the boot itself). Secondly, the shin armor does not actually completely cover you knee. The very top of the knee portion of the shin should line up with the top of your knee cap (maybe just a little lower), the shin armor will not completely enclose your knee. My first shin that I built had what I thought was a good height, but it was massivly fat, which lead to the reasearch that produced the conclusion that I just gave you.

I also agree with Rabbit, a helmet at 34cm (assuming that is HEIGHT) is huge. My helmet was only 30cm, and I have a decent size head. So, unless your head is large, you may want to rethink that.

Beyond all that, your pepping is very clean. I'd love to see how you would handle more HD files.

Increasingly Rapid Update! Hyperdrive Time!

HELLO EVERYONE! I missed you all! And I am sure you all missed me too!... Right? :rolleyes

But anyways... Since the website has been down due to Malware Getting into the site because of a bot that exploited it apparently, I have been working on my armor over the summer, BIG TIME! I mean really big! Everyday big! Like my d- nevermind...

...But I have been seriously working on the armor a lot and thought that I'd decide to give you all an update, seeing I can't wait to show you what I have been doing all summer long!

So... Here are some of the many pictures that I took during the summer while working on the armor! Enjoy!...I Hope!

Saddly I didn't get images of the armor being resined because I had forgotten my camera for that day. But I have first coat of paint! It's a warm looking red that I really love! At first it looks really shiny, but that fixes over time and detailing.

As you can see so far, you are unable to see mostly any details, but I have later on used black paint that I brushed on to get the black color into the armor and reduce the shine!

If it even entertains any of you :p But anyways here it is, and have a nice day! And I really thank the people who helped me with the links to visors and gloves and such for the armor! Thats looks pretty good man! If I might suggest for the back, get some fom paper ( or Foames) found inn any craft store and see if you can add some detail that way t the back piece. I know thats what Ill do if my chest turns out too big with the normal detail piece with my time frame i have.

Final Painted Armor - With Detail!

Hey, why didn't you upload the pictures yestarday? Stuff happened and my camera ran out of battery that took a half a day to charge, and by that time, it was dark out and looked silly. Anyways, the final armor Pictures! Paint- I mean.

They Look Really Dirtied Up, and I am not sure if that is something that is bad, but I like it, it really goes with the "I just returned from battle" look.

Alright, these are the shins, and for some reason, I think they look REALLY good, I just don't know why my eyes are attracted to it so much.:p

Next Are The Shoulder Pieces. They look alright, I like them a bit, but I am afraid that they are a bit small, well, not for my body type they aren't but in proportion to the armor, they might be, but I'll find out later today...

Now: For the gauntlets, which I forgot a minor - major detail, depending on how you look at it, but I should have just used HighDefinition parts, but I still Love All Of It!

DSC00858_zps7b28387e.jpg

Over all the gauntlets did come out really nice, to my opinion on a first suit of armor, even if they do look a TAD BIT too BIG. But it's most likely because I am a walking skeleton.

Yeah, still see the the little folds, but that's what happens when you don't bondo, but still looks good! And I got that little scratch effect, that you HAVE to LOVE! It just adds a LOT more of a meaning to the armor in general, rather then seeing a person with no detail, and just paint.
