Really nice work there man. Every time I see ME builds the scaling never quite look right but you seem to have scaled everything perfectly. +1 :)

Tom.

Amazing looking, I especially like the designs on the helmet. Killer angles, do you use an xacto knife only or hot craft knife for bevels?

Actually to tell you the truth. I just use a good old Stanley utility knife from Home Depot. I bought a large pack of blades and I make sure I change the blade out often to keep a sharp edge. Here's a couple of pics of the tools I have used so far in this build...

And stay tuned. Weathering of some of the parts will probably start later today.

See ya 405th.

Update time!
Okay so I hit a slow spot when I ran out of toner for my printer. Luckily, I went to a buddies house and borrowed the use of his printer and was able to print out the last templates I needed. So...after a couple days of building them here is my progress with the lower leg/boot section.

Every armor piece is the same scale. However, while all the other parts I've made so far seem to be scaled right, this part seems to be a little to long for my short legs. So, that being said, I plan to build them as all one piece and then try and figure out how to modify them to fit my leg. Anyways, just felt like a deadbeat because I hadn't shown any progress in like a week. I will continue building and probably have more to show by the middle of the week.

Thanks for looking!
See ya 405th.

I love your suit. The Paragon Symbol is a nice touch. I found your helmet very impressive, especially since it is made from foam. Lots of foam helmets seem to have trouble keeping symetry but yours is spot on. Certainly this is one of the better foam builds on these forums.

*Note on that last one. I have to figure out something for the back of the torso. It's real flimsy and I can't seem to get it to bend in the way it should.

I don't know if you solved this problem yet but I have two ideas. The first (and easier fix) would be to strap the back and front pieces together. I don't know how comfortable it would be to walk around with a strap right between your legs, but it would stop the butt-flap from poking out like a tail. The second fix is more complex and you need a heat gun. When you heat foam it becomes less rigid and you can bend it into different shapes. If you hold a certain shape as the piece cools it will keep that shape. The process is explained a bit better in this blog http://bioweapons.wordpress.com/page/4/. Look near the bottom of page 4 where the author goes over heating and shaping.

Update:

Got the left leg painted up. Now I just need to finish up the right leg.

@Nessy
I probably will use a strap in the crotch area to bend the back inward. Thanks for the idea!

Now that the boots are almost finished, I just need to separate them in such a way that I get some articulation in my ankle area. Also, just a bit more strapping and I'm almost there. I can see the finish line!

See ya soon, 405th.

Great job on your armour! Your helmet looks sweet, and your armour overall looks cleanly put together. I guess an easy fix for your ankle thing (as stated by rasendori04) is just to make a slit, and then just widen it or something.

Keep up the good work!

So it's been a while and I've had this EVA foam just sitting in my office. I had ordered it probably about a year ago. I happen to be cruising the 405th like I always do. Checking out what everyone else is doing...and I see this thread of a set of N7 armor by Hugh Holder complete with foam templates.

Hmmmm. So after looking at it, I decided it would be the perfect armor to try making using foam. It's been several months since I started this project. However, I didn't want to create a thread until I was certain I was actually going to complete this.

Thus far I have the entire upper body completed with just a few minor details to finish and a few more straps to strap. Here are some highlight pictures of the project so far:
*sorry if some of the pictures are blurry. It's hard to take pics of yourself...in armor...in a mirror.

And that's where I stand as of now. I'm closing in on the home stretch just have to make the thighs, calves, and boots. More updates to come soon.

See ya soon 405th.
very nice work! Can You link files for this armor? Aslo can you tell me how much eva foam do I need to make this armor?

Check post number 11 of this thread for files. Also not sure at this point but I'd say it took roughly 10 to 15 tiles of 3'x3' foam.

Great looking build! Looking forward to seeing the finished product.

I was pretty sure I had posted my completed pics. I think something has happened to my thread. Anyways, I did complete and wear it WonderCon Anaheim and had a blast.
Here is a link to my RPF thread since this one seems to have misplaced my pictures.
