It's perfect! Can't wait to hit this bad boy with some hex pattern!

Chestpiece is looking amazing.
If you don't mind me asking, how do you get the foam to bend so smoothly? The curves on the front of the chest piece are absolutely perfect.

Looking Great!! And that helmet is nice as well! not a huge fan on those LED's,but other then that I likey, good paint job, sexy visor.

Pretty dang slick! Your build is looking awesome!

Damn, how'd I miss this thread?? Anyways, this is great keep it up! :D

Thanks guys! Cheers!

Thanks man! I actually scored the back about halfway through, bent it, and used a little heat to get the overall curvature right once it was all glued in place. :)

Thanks man. :)

Wish I could take credit for the helmet/visor. Both are products of Armory Props, and I couldn't be happier! Should have a hex pattern (much like the pattern I put on the visor I built) on the new visor soon.

Only one more detail to finish now, and the thrusters are done.

Time to do some damage.

I've said it once and I'll say it again, that chestpiece is perfect. Without doubt one of the best I've seen. And that battle damage just adds to it, you're doing a fantastic job man. I'll be watching this thread regularly. :)

Thanks a bunch man, means a lot! Keeps me goin. :)

Making a damned good thing a little better.... hopefully.

Should get all the hexes picked out tonight, stand by.

Where did you get the masking hexes? I've seen far too many people mask the helmet wrong because they were too lazy to do what you did. Very nice job thus far!

That visor looks awesome, especially that it's metallic orange instead of gold - much truer to the game. Can you write the details on how you made it? I'm sure many others besides just me would love to read it. No way you applied all the hexes by hand - they're too perfectly spaced from each other. And how is the pattern transferred to the visor? C'mon, you gotta tell us! :)

Thanks man- the visor itself was vaccuformed and colored by Jose Valdez of Armory Props.

I just hit up a local sign shop for a hex pattern with cells 1/4" in diameter, spaced at 1/6". I've used both premium vinyl, and rapid-air (vehicle wrap) and both seem to produce the same result. The backing tape makes it a pain to lay down, but I'd recommend you weed out the everything expect for the hex cells, and lay it down very carefully. The backing tape isn't going to allow for a perfectly even placement (or at least it hasn't for me :( ) but being that you're only spraying clear, the end result is pretty forgiving. So lay it down, peel the backing tape, and spray on a few light coats of matte clear. The result should look something like this:

I'd be happy to take some video on the next go-round so you guys can see what I did. It's pretty simple stuff. :)

Are you going to repaint the helmet?

I don't think it matches the level of awesome you have in the rest of the project.
