Loving your work dude! Your foam lines are super clean, and the tape+glue method you used is plain genius.

Awesome work! This is one of the builds that's encouraging me to get off my butt and work on my MKV suit! :D Keep it up dude, can't wait to see the full suit version of this!

If I may give one (time consuming) recommendation, is make those shoulder pieces bigger! Even if you have to pad out around it with undersuit and foam, I think it'll help the bulky look of your suit a lot! Thin guys like us have to add a bit extra in the shoulder region to look like big tanky Spartans :p

I also really like the look of the forearms, but I'm having a really hard time finding the file you used for it, with those nice little side details. Did you do those from scratch or am I just really bad at searching? :D

Hey everyone!

I've been gone for a little bit over a month now, and well I'm working quite a bit, so I don't have nearly the time to put into this project. But I got my hands on a small sheet of 2mm foam and I wanted to start detailing, I think I started seeing a bit too much grey.

This is what I was trying to replicate.

Awesome, that really makes me happy! I sure get that feeling when reading other people's builds. And yes. Most definitely about the biceps. Way too small for the rest of the costume. As well as the shins. I'm currently re-making the shins right now. Nothing to really post about it though.

The forearms are JTM1997's, but it's L3X Blu3r1v3r's unfold. You can find a lot of reach foam unfold's here.

Thanks everyone for commenting! I'm getting so many feels!

i'll try to post within a month this time!

So on the 9th I became an uncle! Quite exciting, but I drove to a distant coast home to be there when the baby was born. while looking for the hospital I found a Jo-annes and I just had to stop. this was the closest I was going to be a Jo-annes for a very long time. And this is what I got.

IMG_9724.jpg

Some white 2mm foamies and some black ones
IMG_9726.jpg

and some cool 6mm foamies.
IMG_9725.jpg

Recently I've done some chest piece work. I finally got It into two pieces! and it still holds it shape with a minimal gap. I'm happy!

Here is where I started and I decided to cut the chest
IMG_9717.jpg
IMG_9718.jpg
and here
IMG_9720.jpg

After a bit of planning I got one side done and it worked great.
IMG_9721.jpg

Put back together.
IMG_9723.jpg

Now both sides!
IMG_9731.jpg
IMG_9732.jpg

With me wearing it,
IMG_9728.jpg
IMG_9730.jpg

I've also done both the shins in their proper size! Next is the Biceps the knee guards, the shoulder attachments, and lastly the helmet!

Thanks for stopping by and checking out my progress.
See you next time

I like how you attached the two parts of the torso its very neat. In fact this whole build is looking very nice!

So since posting that last update I kept working to the point im at now. I'll be following this with pictures and my process on it, I hope you enjoy.
I'm working with foamies and some small details on this one.

So the boot was first. I kinda worked my way up on this one.
this was the first step
IMG_9733.jpg

Cutting out the next details. I'm using the 6mm foamies on this one.
(this is the side with the ink on it.)
5e62ac6c-5801-4b6a-8de1-b4dbdbfba336.jpg
and this side with no pen. (flipping it over is how people using foamies get that perfect look)
IMG_9734.jpg

On the boot. (im also lifting the boot cap to show where I can now glue it the boot. and create a stronger attachment.)
IMG_9736.jpg

I then cut this out.
IMG_9737.jpg

And started using my old soldering iron to burn in some details
IMG_9738.jpg

And then the boots where they are at now.
IMG_9755.jpg
IMG_9754.jpg

Now for the thighs
This was completely new, Added the in-cut. and the burn lines.
IMG_9739.jpg

Now the shins.
I finally cut into this detail area. I decided to tough up and try and cut that complicated detail. instead of using a foamie
IMG_9751.jpg

And also burn the lines in
IMG_9752.jpg
IMG_9753.jpg

I screwed that part up, it was supposed to end a bit lower at the raised up part. But oh well. Messed up one had to do the other. Couldn't figure out how to fill it.

And this is how the torso ended up.
IMG_9747.jpg

At first I filled in the sides with the multi level foamies.

Burn holes!
IMG_9748.jpg

and just laying it in didn't work. It stuck out a bit past my displeasing.
IMG_9741.jpg

Continued on the next post. 20/15 pictures.

Part 2 of 2

So I then Started to cut out the torso piece
IMG_9743.jpg

IMG_9744.jpg

I then simply glued it onto the piece, and back into the torso.
IMG_9745.jpg

One side has 12 slits, the other has 11. I had made them both 11. But it was left without a certain look the other one had. so 12 it became..

And I also did this! ( I did the other side too!)
IMG_9757.jpg

IMG_9758.jpg

Thanks again for checking this out!

I'm seeing some really nice things here.
The work that your putting into the details is paying off.

Sorry everyone! I have no idea why I don't reply to the comments in my thread right away. I think I would rather have progress with the update, but Unfortunately I don't have much progress from my last update. Just a re-sized bicep, and I would rather have both completed to show you all.

My time recently has been nada.. I work 5:30 pm to about 1 or 2 am almost every day, I have the whole afternoon to work on projects but im actually running low on supplies. But payday just happened and I'm going to get myself a hot knife! I can't wait for it. I might also get some dremel add-ons so I can carve my foam.

I'm also going to try and "re-event" my thread. Redo the first post. and include what files I used and where to find them, as well as my scaling if I can.

Thanks for all the support! Now I'm getting to the individual replies.

Looks fantastic! Im definitely gonna reference this build when working on my Mk II

Please use my thread! Dissect it and study it if you wish, and I'm always here if you want to ask me questions. I'll do my best to reply in a timely manner!

Looking pretty snazzy man keep up the good work :)

This looks like a impressive build, I really like your attention to detail.
Charlie13
Looking really good so far man. :) Love how you did the detail!

Thank you all, There's nothing I love more than seeing replies like this on my thread. It makes me feel like I'm doing my build right!

Roceifin
i smell elite build section
great work!

That would be a dream if I made Elite. I hope, as I continue my work I will impress more and more people and show them how much I want this to be perfect. Because well. That's my goal. :)

Spartan-214
Really nice work you got goin' on. The sizing looks perfect too for the chest piece, keep it up.

Yeah, it worked out pretty well. I had to remove about 2" from the bottom sides and about an inch from the top, after that it was nearly a perfect fit. (or else it stuck out way to far.) And the best part about it? its the default scale for the chest.

I'm seeing some really nice things here.
The work that your putting into the details is paying off.

That means a lot coming from you Kill, your thread showed me a lot, and inspired me. So, let me properly thank you for that, :)
I made the decision, I better make this suit as best as I can. Because I don't in a few years want to re-make ANOTHER reach suit. I'm trying to make this something I'm really proud of. Because I have the habit of making a suit. Wearing it to PAX Prime. and then it sits in a box. and I never want to touch it again. and that makes me sick. Such a waste of time and money. I don't want to wear them again. because I'm not really proud of them. I know I could've done better. but I rushed it and never made them to my full potential. That's why I made the personal decision that This suit will be complete when it's complete and not a moment sooner. I'll never put a completion date on a personal costume again.

Thanks everyone! :)
