I thought your last build had some great detail work in it, but this just blows it out of the water! Pretty incredible, can't wait to see the whole thing!
Thank you very much. One of the reasons I started this build was to go way over the top and put my old suit to shame. Glad to see that it's going in that direction. So, again, Thank you.I thought your last build had some great detail work in it, but this just blows it out of the water! Pretty incredible, can't wait to see the whole thing!

*UPDATE*
This weekend I introduced my girlfriend, Heaven, to armoring. We started on some recruit forearms, which are the same ones I planned to use for my build (Yay! Less templates to draw up!), We faced a few problems with getting the angles right and ended up settling on using Pepakura based templates. I personally feel that pep templates are inferior in most cases (Not trying to offend anyone by saying that, just throwing out my opinion) to hand-drawn templates that are intended for foam. So last night, I sat down on my bed with the Halo 4 issue of Gameinformer and my sketchbook and drew up this:
I'm pretty proud with how it's turning out, which is why I'm sharing this so early in the day. I hope this helps many others solve problems like this, because I'm sure I'm not the only one to face it. If I don't go to the midnight release of GTA 5 tonight, I'll be heading home to add the final details to my forearm and possibly start the second one. Also as a bonus, here's a shot of my sketch and the templates I used to make this.

I have no problem uploading them if someone would like to use them in the future. Thanks for looking!

First of all thank you.Amazing progress. Your foam-work is quite literally spectacular, and as someone mentioned before, you're paintjob is fantastic too.
If you don't mind me asking, do you have any more tips for hand-drawing templates? Your templates come out great and I'm looking to achieve something similar. I tried checking the armor pieces in theatre mode and checked the pepakura file but still having trouble figuring out where to start in terms of guidelines.
Thanks!

EDIT: Sweet jesus, just took a closer look at your chest-piece, and I'm stunned. You did a fantastic job on the detailing, and with the paintjob and those shoulderpads attatched, it looks damn good. I'm so jealous, and I'll be watching this thread to see the final result.
Also I'm glad you gave Halo 4 a second chance, I was also quite unsure with H4 at first but it rubbed off on me.
Thank you, sir!Good build and great start, can't wait to see the rest of the suit's progression.
I'll try to upload them tomorrow, my scanner was having issues tonight.i would most definitely like those, plus for either of the torsos you made
Those are 100% legitimate screws. I just went to the hardware store and got a bunch of the smallest flat-head screws I could find. I took a large sewing needle and stabbed holes where I wanted them and then shoved 'em in. Fun fact: My torso has 54 screws on it.How are you doing to screw head details? Are you actually securing the whole screw with a nut on the back or sawing the heads off and gluing them on?
Forgot to mention last night, I don't have the templates I made for either of the torsos. However, my Vanguard chestplate is just laying around and probably won't get worked on. If you want it, pm me.i would most definitely like those, plus for either of the torsos you made
Wow dude, thanks for the templates. Were those on regular sized 9x11 paper, or something different? Either way, I love the simplicity.
Thank you!WOW. Just insane, looks amazing man!
Thanks, bud!Nice job, I love scratch builds and your doing it right
You're welcome, glad you like 'em. Yup, that's standard paper, I print them on cardstock so they don't warp when I trace them on the foam.Wow dude, thanks for the templates. Were those on regular sized 9x11 paper, or something different? Either way, I love the simplicity.
Many thanks! Yeah, they're a bit tight, I had to dremel mine a bit so my wrist moves more freely.i printed them on 8.5x11 us standard printer paper and they came out perfect, a lil bit tight around the wrist, but thats what the velcro is for! awesome job with the templates NDE!
Man, I'm a bit jealous...I make clothes for ren faire goers, but I have yet to make it to one, myself. Hoping to go to Waxahachie for one, one of these days.
That helmet must've made your day! Is it difficult to look down while wearing it?
