Hi All,

Thought you might appreciate this.

Designed in Autodesk Fusion 360 on my Makerbot Replicator 2, and I have shared the STL's on thingiverse, so if you are tempted, you can take a run at it.

Full disclosure, I did this more to learn Fusion 360 than a specific need for a Halo helmet, but the results far exceeded my expectations and it was too good not to share.

The visor is for demo only right now, you cant see through it, I have some plans there.

And yes it is pink, this one is the wifes...

Enjoy!

You know, I had seen both of your previous versions on thingiverse, and was contemplating printing the large version, but scaled to 90%, but this one looks like it may work better. Any chance I could get a measurement of the bottom of the helmet to see if my big head will fit? Thanks!

Actually you bring up a really good point, is there a standard way to measure helmets for entry and internals?

I can gladly photo a measuring tape against this and post the images here, along with the dissassembly options.

Will endevour to do so tonight.

While the helmet is awesome, I'm even more intrigued/jealous of the 3D printer. I've been planning on getting one in the next few years because they can be quite expensivo. I never even contemplated someone printing an entire helmet, only small parts. Good work!

holy sugar cane!

Man, this thing looks awesome! I too will either be investing in a 3d printer or a rapid prototyping machine in a couple of years. Take my new found hobby to a new level!!!

Try these mashed up measurements.

It shows the entry hole size.

Remember the chin comes off entirely on magnets, yellow and blue parts, so the entry hole isnt a limiting factor.

I can just get it on with out removing the chin, I am 6ft1, and always took a large helmet size when I was riding motorbikes a lot. Cant remember the "official size"

I show the rear wall to nose measurement, as it is usually the limiting factor. Height on the side is shown as you dont want your chin sticking out.

The width is a good inch more than the entry hole, my ears get to relax...

Its 16 main pieces as per attached files at http://www.thingiverse.com/thing:158120, and 4 inserts / visor.

Using the other "things" referenced in the main design for combined pieces it comes down to 12 main pieces.

You can get it down to 7 main + 2 insert full plates by printing multiple pieces on one replicator 2 bed.

I am 6'1" and can get this on without removing the chin, just.

I have placed a motorcycle helmet liner inside, and now it sits quite well on my head without rattling round!
